PENGUINS ERUPT FOR SEVEN-GOAL VICTORY
Seven different skaters found the back of the net as the Penguins extended their winning streak to a season-long six games. Pittsburgh has outscored their opponents 35-14 over the streak, tallying five or more goals in five of six contests.
* Sidney Crosby (1-0—1) batted a puck out of mid-air to pick up his League-leading 21st goal of the season and extend his point streak to seven games (7-6—13). Crosby, who has scored in each of his last four outings, has registered his 21 goals in only 23 games.
* Matt Murray made 32 saves to earn his second shutout of the season and improve to 11-2-0 (1.84 GAA, .936 SV%). Per Elias, Murray improved to 19-4-1 in his NHL career to become just the fifth goaltender in NHL history to begin his career with 19 or more wins in his first 25 career starts. The others: Bill Durnan (20-2-3) in 1943-44, Ross Brooks (21-1-3) in 1972-74, Frederik Andersen (20-5-0) in 2013-14 and Andrew Hammond (21-1-3) in 2015.
* The victory came on the one year anniversary of the hiring of head coach Mike Sullivan. Under Sullivan, the Penguins have gone 52-23-8 in the regular-season and captured the 2016 Stanley Cup championship.
BRUINS OUTLAST CANADIENS IN OVERTIME
Ryan Spooner (1-1—2) scored his second career overtime goal and Tuukka Rask made 30 saves to lift the Bruins to victory on the heels of a three game slide (0-2-1).
* Rask improved to 15-5-2 with a 1.80 goals-against average, .932 save percentage and three shutouts. Only Canadiens goaltender Carey Price (16-3-2) and Blue Jackets netminder Sergei Bobrovsky (16-5-2) have recorded more wins this season.
* Bruins forward Austin Czarnik (1-1—2) factored on both Bruins goals to record his second career multi-point game (26 GP).
LOOSE PUCKS
Flyers right wing Jakub Voracek, Rangers goaltender Antti Raanta and Blue Jackets center Sam Gagner were named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending Dec. 11 . . . ICYMI: Maple Leafs rookie forward Zach Hyman is also a children's book author.

TOP TEAMS FACE OFF IN NEW YORK
Two of the League’s top teams go head-to-head when the Blackhawks (18-8-4, 40 points) visit the Rangers (20-9-1, 41 points), for the second time in five nights. New York, who sits one point back of Montreal (19-6-4, 42 points) for top spot in the Eastern Conference, defeated the Western Conference-leading Blackhawks on Friday when Nick Holden scored the game’s only goal 55 seconds into overtime.
