It's not who you know, it's Whom You Know and we know Codie because we love that he followed us on Twitter, and we were happy to follow back. Before we interviewed him, we listened to his album, All Kinds of Crazy, quite a bit! It's a rare post in New York Notes when you see something original from us and not directly from the Recording Academy, and actions speak louder than words so that's what we think of this album.
Among your New Year's Resolutions should be to listen to it!
It has a strong start with our favorite song on it: "I'll Be Your Whiskey" and his voice is as smooth as the whiskey you should sip while listening. The dead of winter is perfect for both this album and drinking Whiskey, plus Codie is Canadian. Our sympathies to Canada in the junior hockey championship which ended up in a USA win resulting from a shootout at the end past overtime. Even if you spell it whisky you will love this song (we think the Scottish spell it that way).
It's followed by "All Kinds of Crazy" - a fun, upbeat track and then he shows his versatility with a slower, more thoughtful depth transition in "Down the Line." And, this is not an earlier generation's country. The fourth track is more electric sounding, and is upbeat and catchy as well: "Say My Name." Overall, this is a great album for your winter hibernation.
This country boy provides you with the perfect escape from Manhattan by just popping in his music! We look forward to meeting him and his family one day when they visit New York!
