CTA Applauds the Confirmation of Robert Lighthizer as US Trade Representative

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA), regarding the confirmation of Robert Lighthizer as U.S. Trade Representative:

"CTA congratulates Ambassador Lighthizer's on his successful confirmation. We look forward to working with the USTR as the administration continues to review national trade policy with an eye toward growing our economy and creating U.S. jobs.

"International trade and the ability for companies of all sizes to source, sell and compete in the global marketplace is fundamental for American economic success and global leadership in innovation. In his efforts to bolster our country's competitiveness, CTA urges Ambassador Lighthizer to resist protectionism and focus on the modernization of our trade agreement models by including provisions addressing the digital economy and internet."
