Bond, Peachy Bond: Westside Rifle and Pistol Range at 20 West 20th Street in Manhattan Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!

DeNiro in Taxi was here!

We give you many suggestions at Whom You Know from what to eat to what to wear to where to go, and we also emphasize life skills you should know.  Before meeting Darren and his range, Peachy Deegan definitely had no idea how to use a gun and never had before.  Except squirt guns of course, and toy guns with caps when she played cowboys and indians as a kid.  One of her friends in college was quite famous on campus for supersoaking and you know who joined in the fun.
Though it would be terrific if we could just hire James Bond to hang out with us all the time, sadly he's probably not available and knowing how to use a gun is good to know, especially in this crazy world we live in.
You've got to be your own James Bond in life.
Everyone knows James Bond has perfect aim, and it's high time Peachy learned and you should learn too because it is good to know how to use a gun. That is why we went.  After it is over, we found out that Bond, Peachy Bond is actually quite a good shot and one of her friends started calling her Annie Oakley.  Knowing how to use a gun is empowering, useful and when you have a teacher as brilliant at Darren (see evidence in picture below):
and learn all about safety first which is obviously essential, you will find it is really a lot of fun.  Darren told Bond, Peachy Bond she would be learning on a Ruger 10/22. Here is what it looks like.  It is empty and so is the magazine next to it.
The magazine is what you put the bullets in, and then you put the magazine in the rifle.
We understand this model of rifle is the most popular since the 1960's and it is mass produced.  Of course you know who wanted to know where it is made...and Bond, Peachy Bond was delighted to learn it is not only made in the USA but also made in Connecticut, in Southport by Stur, Ruger and Co.
This venue began in 1965 when two business partners started it at this location.  In 1989, Darren Leung began in law enforcement and started as an instructor.  In 1994, Darren became a co-owner which continued until 2004, when he became the sole owner of Westside Rifle and Pistol Range.  Today there are six full-time employees here and as long as you pass the background check, you can learn how to shoot a rifle.  It is the only public shooting range in Manhattan.  It has passed all regulations of ATF (Alcohol Tobacco Firearms), NYPD, New York State and the FBI and we saw every aspect of safety being adhered to carefully.  This venue is popular with law officers, rifle members, now Peachy and possibly you.  Everyone shoots together and it is a friendly, collegial environment.  There are sixteen points to shoot from.
Before she started, Peachy had an extensive private class with Darren learning everything about safety and how to use a gun.  Not only does Darren have this range but he also sells guns and is licensed by the government to do that as well.
Once you know what you are doing, you go into your assigned shooting point with your rifle and empty magazine and are given bullets.  You shoot at targets, and it is fun to pin them up on the screen and wind it out on the pulley like you would a clothes line outside for wet clothes to dry:
You must make sure the bolt is back, the action is open and you can see no rounds in the firearm before you start. This is the safest position.

Bond, Peachy Bond shot 50 bullets.  Five go into each magazine; the screw is in the front and the nub is in the back and they can only go in one way.
You release the bolt to load the weapon.
For the safety, when it is red it is ready to fire.
When it is black, it is safe.
See red, he's dead.
Darren knew we wrote on fashion too so we had pink headphones.
 Here's our shooting point.
We did not anticipate having fun because we are so super serious about safety and getting everything right.  To be honest, guess who was on the afraid side.
This is extremely fun and you will get an adrenaline rush!  Do not go too quickly; try to learn how to line everything up correctly to get the best result.  You move the target further away as you get better.   This is quite great for stress relief.

Here are some other people you know that have been here!

Probably every cop in New York City has visited.
We hope you're next and we can't wait to go back!
