West Coast Peachy: Newly Expanded Michael Jackson Display Now Open At The GRAMMY Museum®! New Exhibit Cases Featuring Previously Displayed Thriller Artifacts and New Items Now on Display in Conjunction with the 35th Anniversary of the Landmark Album
Today, the GRAMMY Museum debuts an expanded exhibit display paying tribute to the life and legacy of GRAMMY® winner Michael Jackson. Housed on the Museum’s third floor, the exhibit expands upon the Museum’s previous tribute to Jackson, which featured two cases of artifacts that portrayed Jackson’s early career as a member of the Jackson 5, and his successful solo career as a singer and performer. The extended exhibit coincides with the 35th anniversary of Jackson’s landmark album Thriller, and commemorates the lasting impact the artist continues to have on music and pop culture, now nearly eight years after his passing.
This special exhibit serves as a follow-up to the larger-scale exhibits, Michael Jackson: HIStyle and Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy, previously showcased in the Museum. Visitors will enjoy a variety of unique items, including previously displayed Thriller artifacts such as:
· Jackson’s white suit worn on the Thriller album cover
· The Letterman jacket and iconic red leather jacket worn in the music video for "Thriller"
· And never-before-displayed artifacts from the 1984 Victory Tour, including one of Jackson’s sequin gloves and the fedora worn during the live performance of "Billie Jean"
These pieces will be on display at the GRAMMY Museum through summer 2018.
