WHITE MAN & WOMAN is all set to hit the stage from 17th to 19th June 2017. This marketing-oriented platform is the ideal forum for medium and big-sized Italian and international fashion businesses, as well as a precious resource for the scouting of the most innovative makers and creative talents. Among the trade-fair’s several initiatives, under the aegis of the Municipality of Milan, there are two Special Exhibition, conceived to celebrate the know-how of two important Italian enterprises: “La tradizione, Il valore, Il bello” (Tradition, Value, Beauty), with Albini Group, which are going to recount their challenge to produce uncompromising quality, and Premio Ramponi Talent Network, which has given birth to a novel notion of creative patronage.
“La Tradizione, Il Valore, Il Bello” is an exhibiting project promoted by WHITE and designed to shine a spotlight on the most established businesses, which take the excellence of the Made in Italy across the universe. Over the years the show has welcomed the likes of Kiton, with an authentic show on sartorial craftsmanship, Lanificio F.lli Cerruti dal 1881, Care Label and the textile industry TRC Candiani, leading denim manufacturer, down to Marsèll with a great installation on the design and production of footwear.
During the June edition, the exhibition White Essentials, Style and Matter of the White Shirt will go on show in Tortona 27 Superstudio Più. The former is an emotional and sensorial narrative path starting from the raw material, the cotton seeds, which become flowers to then turn into yarn and ultimately into fabric, thanks to the expertise of Albini Group, the producer of the best cotton fabrics for shirts and blouses in the world. The show will focus on the colour white, as this pure candid fabric represents the most difficult challenge and it allows illustrating the many facets of the colour ‘white’ that Albini can achieve. Within the exhibition, the white fabric is also the necessary ingredient that, as interpreted by the several designers involved in the project, has allowed creating items that widely differ one from another.
The second project, imbued with noteworthy cultural connotation, is Premio Ramponi (Ramponi Award), contest conceived and sponsored by Alfredo Ramponi. The contest has undertaken a new direction, still in keeping with the patronage vocation aiming to support young fashion talents, which has been the goal of the award since its very onset. The spin-offTalent Network Premio Ramponi is the new stage of the contest, which is set to inaugurate a fruitful dialogue with the winning designers on the product culture. More precisely, the winners of the previous editions will reinterpret some of their items in keeping with the “Ramponi mood”. Alberto Zambelli (winner in February 2016), Francesca Castagnacci(awarded in June 2016), Linda Calugi-Twins Florence (winner of the September 2016 edition), Francesco D’Amico - Damico Milano (winner in January 2017), Laura Bihl - Sainte Courtisane (best designer in February 2017) have been involved in the new format. The upshot of this joint creativity will be on show at WHITE, which, as always, is supporting the contest by providing exhibiting areas visited by the top buyers from across the globe. Thanks to this important partnership with the contemporary fashion tradeshow, the Award can bridge a gap in terms of initiatives conceived to support the fashion system.
Albini Group: since 1876 the best fabrics for shirts in the world
