Bleecker Street Pizza Summer 2017
"I try to put out the absolute best product whether it's pizza, a hero or a salad and I push that on my workers. If it's coming out with the Bleecker Street Pizza name, it has to be the absolute best product we can make."
-Owner Doug Greenwood
It's not who you know, it's whom you know that knows pizza!
And we're glad to know Doug. Bleecker Street Pizza has been impressing us since 2013, and has been impressing the world since 2003 when it opened.
It was first featured in 2013:
and again in 2015:
It was last featured two winters ago in 2016:
Our visit this time was inaugurated with a meatball grinder with cheese which is the ultimate in gooey carnivorous deliciousness. Grinders are toasted at Bleecker Street Pizza and though the climate is casual, the taste is haute couture pizza.
Bleecker Street Pizza has some of the best salads in town, and that is especially great to know on a hot summer day like today. The salads are a great portion and substantial. We chose the simple house salad and it was exactly what we were looking for with fresh vegetables chopped just right. Dressing arrived on the side, as requested.
Check out the salad depth, a nutritional high-five of greens:
Whenever we see a wimpy salad, we think to ourself: Doug Greenwood would not put out a salad like that! We have to go back to Bleecker Street Pizza and remind everyone how great they are. And, Doug pointed out to us that a story we had published:
Doug knows Ralph. Ralph actually works at Bleecker Street Pizza! You know it is almost 9/19 so don't miss the show. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of the NYPD and we like this brand's history in this area; it makes the pizza taste even better.
Avid readers know that Peachy always orders vegetables on her pizza. This time we decided to be different and indulge their menu and try the House Special Pie. We were willing to try whatever they think is the greatest. It is fantastic!
Sausage, pepperoni, spinach, chicken, green peppers, and olives grace this wonder of Seventh Avenue South and every bite of every piece will thrill you with the many hits of flavor.
Finally, the resident Chicken Parm monster of Whom You Know was entirely wowed with the Chicken Parm dinner: a gigantic portion of perfectly pounded and breaded chicken parm with superlative mozzarella and ziti. If you also were once a student at Boston College constantly eating chicken parm at lower dining hall because it was wicked awesome, this is exactly what the doctor ordered for post-Holy war cheer-up: the second half we must congratulate Regis and Notre Dame on. Regis also goes to Bleecker Street Pizza and you can see his face on the wall.
Bleecker Street Pizza continues to be Terrific Takeout!
We must try the calzone next time.
