Wahlburgers Upper East Side New York, New York Inaugural Review - New You Got It Lyrics By Whom You Know's Peachy Deegan

[Peachy Deegan singing to you:]
The Our Burger is a Great One
O.F.D. has Bacon and Swiss
the Turkey

and the Haddock

you don't want to miss.
Boston kid cuisine puts you in the pink
Light Celtic green logo's great we think
Even the pinstriped New Yorkers will love your wicked awesome drinks.

You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Love the way you taste so great
You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Time your stomach made a date

(Peachy hands microphone to Upper East Side neighborhood)
[Upper East Side:]
All that we needed was you
In our 'hood
Flavors so good

[Everyone's stomach sings:]
All that I wanted was you
You made all our carnivore dreams come true

You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Love the way you taste so great
You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Time your stomach made a date
How many years have we lived here and how many reviews have we gone on before we had a Root Beer Float this well done?  Too many!  We are pleased to present our first Wahlburgers opinion to you and as you know, in general we do not at all advocate franchises, but this one's different.  Better different.
Peachy happily sipped the IBC Root Bear Float to start with.
Wahlburgers opened on the Upper East Side in April 2017, upping the Second Avenue quality choices.  Note that the family is Wahlberg and the restaurant is Wahlburgers.
At Wahlburgers, we love their commitment to authenticity from echoing their childhood menu (which we can verify is authentic as Peachy also had a New England childhood) to having direct items that they are personally responsible for.  We understand Aqua Hydrate has double the electrolytes and is Mark Walhberg's water.
We followed that up with Mark's favorite sandwich.  We like how each family member indicates on the menu what they like best.  Meet the Thanksgiving Day Sandwich. Everyone knows Thanksgiving is a wicked awesome holiday that was also created in Massachusetts.
Other people might say winner winner chicken dinner but they really should be concentrating on the Turkey.  This is the only turkey burger Peachy has ever eaten and liked.  It is crafted with fresh ground seasoned turkey burger, stuffing, mayo, and drumroll please, Housemade orange-cranberry sauce and roasted butternut squash.   It sounded like maybe a little overkill to us before we tried it, but it works fabulously well and the components are in ideal proportion to each other.
Wahlburgers culinary intention is to recreate the food and flavors that the nine Wahlberg kids grew up with in Dorchester.  Peachy's pal from school Mickey Curley from Duxbury pronounces it Doahchestahhhhhhh.
We have loved macaroni and cheese forever, since childhood.  Note this is a great family place and there is a kid menu section called "For the 'Smahlburgs'".  Their menu is supahhhh and superbly named.  Meet the Mac and Cheese with Smoked Bacon, which will hit the spot.
Panko crust and slab bacon make the American government cheese taste even better.  We love AMERICAN cheese.  Also cheddar and mozzarella come to the party with parmesean.  You could also add pulled pork, beef, chicken, crispy haddock and/or turkey to this mac and cheese.  We also tried the Chili side, equally inviting and made with fresh ground beef, red beans, ancho chili and their house blend of spices including cumin, salt and pepper, dark chili powder, and garlic powder.  Delicious!
Mirror mirror on the wall, which burger is the most wicked awesome of them all?
In Peachy's opinion, the O.F.D.
This means Originally From Dorchestah.
Normally we are total sticklers for spelling and grammar, however, we totally appreciate the humor employed here and of course they are adding to the authenticity.
A half pound burger is total divinity of the carnivore discipline, enhanced by swiss cheese, bacon, sauteed mushrooms and housemade tomato jam.  We did not even know we liked tomato jam, but we do here.  The flavors melded together perfectly, yielding a perfect burger.  We absolutely cannot wait to eat it again and guess who has a new favorite burger in New York.
We are always into a fish entree and the Crispy Haddock is just as delicious as the burger.  There are many sandwiches outside of the burgers, and this is a terrific choice with the perfectly crisp house prepared seasoned panko house breaded haddock filet.  The lettuce and tomato components of everything we had were spot-on fresh and Ms. I Do Not Like Sauces Very Often really adored the Housemade Balsamic Tartar Sauce.
Meet The Our Burger, Paul Wahlberg's favorite.  He's the chef and the quieter one.  They have teamed up with the frequently-referenced-in-this-column Pat LaFrieda to create a blend of brisket, short rib and chuck that culminates in classic amazing flavor.  Yellow American Cheese, Paul's signature Wahl Sauce and housemade pickles also join this lovely creation on a bun.  The thin crispy onion rings are not to be ignored and we commend their thinness.
Many signature cocktails looked convincing and we tried the Wahlberry Lemonade with blackberries, which is house made and also has vodka.  Manager Chris Guerrero of the Upper East Side did a great job on our first visit and was trained in Lynnfield, Massachusetts with Paul Wahlberg directly.  At age 23, Chris is the youngest manager of all locations and his knowledge of this brand is terrific and his passion is clear.  We look forward to meeting both the Wahlberg original owners of the franchise and the owners of this exact location.
We always order a green salad and we like that we see three choices here.  Naturally, we ordered the Classic which we added chicken to.  (You could also add beef, turkey or crispy haddock.)  Mixed greens, red onion, cucumbers, and grape tomatoes are fresh and fantastic with creamy ranch, which they were glad to put on the side.

Finally, if you know us, you are of the opinion that great things from Boston come to New York. Yes, Peachy is originally from Connecticut and did live in Manhattan for a month as a CBS News intern before Boston College, but she spent years in Boston and lived in the Back Bay after graduation directly prior to coming to Manhattan.
This review started three decades ago and if you don't understand the first part, you probably didn't exist then and maybe Donnie Wahlberg will sing it to you.

We were impressed the first time; we look forward to more greatness from this wicked awesome Boston family brand that is looks like it's going to light the culinary world on fire.

All locations:

As you know, Peachy Deegan graduated from Boston College with a wicked awesome history degree, so we write on A&E's History Channel.
A&E also has been brilliant to do Wahlburgers show!
We told you about that a few times before before we ate there:

A&E says:
This season, with Wahlburgers becoming one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the world, Mark, Donnie and Paul kick things off with a whopping new deal to open 300 locations across the globe. Additional highlights include a visit from former N*Sync member Joey Fatone who seeks out Donnie for restaurant advice; Mark teams up with Hasbro to create a one-of-a-kind “Paul Wahl” action figure; Donnie taps tour mates Boyz II Men to taste test Jenny McCarthy’s new vodka line while Mark and his kids face off against NFL pro-bowler Travis Kelce in touch football. Penn & Teller make Mark’s Las Vegas Wahlburgers VIP party magical and Mark, Paul and Donnie team up to throw Alma a can’t-miss surprise birthday party she will never forget.
