If it's Monday and you're not excited about your work week, you definitely are not going to the right place for lunch. Centrally located just steps away from Grand Central Station in Manhattan, Pickler and Company remains highly competitive and at the top of our list of all delis in Manhattan because of the high quality ingredients, innovative and delicious sandwiches and overall intelligent hardworking vision of the owner, David Lowenstein who has even managed to dress up meatloaf in haute couture this time. We think it's wearing Donna Degnan, which incidentally is made in the USA too just blocks away from these sandwiches.
Meet meatloaf on sourdough; it was gorgeously toasted and incredibly warm and hearty. A generous slice of meatloaf crafted on premises is enhanced by Applegate Swiss that just oozes goodness. It's available on Thursdays only so mark your calendar! Homemade thousand island dressing makes this simply smashing says the girl that almost always hates salad dressing. The beef is locally sourced from the Hudson Valley and is antibiotic free with no hormones, like all meat served here.
Every bite is crunchy outside and soft and delicious inside.
Pickler is the only place that has meatloaf to-die-for.
Pickler was last featured this spring:
It was first featured in 2016:
The salad we selected was the Kale Parmesean, that also arrives in style with perfectly halved cherry tomatoes and homemade croutons. We added grilled chicken, beets and artichoke and it was super delicious. You can count on this venue to have super fresh everything, and when you consider many corner delis of Manhattan we can tell you from going in, looking, and leaving without ordering or talking to anyone most often that this is fresher than 95% of all other places we ever have seen. Everything is made to order and your everything here is bespoke just for you and your stomach. You can have it exactly to your personal liking and it will be delicious.
These are your choices:
As it is fall, it is high time for grilled cheese. This puts the wow factor in the discipline: Buffalo Grilled Cheese! Applegate chicken tenders are elevated with buffalo sauce giving this sandwich the right amount of spice and kick. Superlative melted mozzarella balances out the edge with a bit of carrots and ranch dressing that is just amazing. Every bite is pure deliciousness and you will want to say trick or treat to this sandwich!
Mirror mirror on the wall, which sandwich lived the life shortest of all? This one. This is our 4th visit to Pickler in total, and we also tried this on our first visit and it rates high for consistency as well. The spicy burger is one of the best burgers you can eat in Manhattan. Pepperjack, the right thin arrangement of jalapenos underneath the burger, siracha mayo, and juicy amazing beef perfectly grilled have a quick party on a seeded bun. Delicately devour, Manhattan: that is a command! Pinkies out.
If you are in the mood for something a little bit more on the lighter side, remember it is always nicer in Nice n'est pas mes amis et amies? C'est la Nicoise au Kaiser! Tuna salad and tapenade brilliantly team up on a wonderful Kaiser roll with a hard boiled egg, romaine, and tomato singing a song of white albacore that says you know the best part of your office is escaping at lunch at Peachy's suggestion...and going to eat David's delicious sandwiches! Open since June 24, 2015, you can expect to see Pickler and Company wow you for many years to come.
