#NewYorkNotes #LegalPeachy @RecordingAcad 20TH ANNUAL ENTERTAINMENT LAW INITIATIVE® EVENT & SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION TO HONOR ALLEN GRUBMAN AND MICHAEL REINERT RECORDING ACADEMY™ ALSO TO HIGHLIGHT THE WORK OF PROMISING LAW STUDENTS DURING GRAMMY® WEEK

The 20th annual Entertainment Law Initiative® Event & Scholarship Presentation will take place during GRAMMY® Week. Michael Reinert, a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP, will be the recipient of the 2018 Entertainment Law Initiative Service Award. This honor is awarded to an attorney who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing and supporting the music community through service. In addition, Allen Grubman, a partner at Grubman, Shire, Meiselas & Sacks, P.C., will receive a Recording Academy™ President's Merit Award in recognition of his many years of work protecting the interests of creators. The winner of this year'sEntertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition (to be announced in January) will also be present at the event.

WHAT: The Entertainment Law Initiative Event is the nation's preeminent gathering for entertainment attorneys, and it provides a forum for the industry to honor its own practitioners, hear from legal thought leaders, and support promising law students interested in entertainment law. This annual program also includes a Writing Competition that invites law students to write a 3,000-word paper on a compelling legal topic facing the music industry today. A $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to the author of the winning paper, and a$2,500 scholarship will be awarded to the runner-up. In addition, the winner will receive travel and tickets to various 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards® events. The GRAMMY Awards will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.
