“The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) congratulates Corey Johnson on his expected election as City Council Speaker.

“As Health Committee Chair, Johnson has been a leader in working to develop and pass policies that protect the health of all New Yorkers. Most recently, he was in the forefront to help pass a powerful package of tobacco-related laws that are expected to save thousands of lives. He has been a champion of policies and programs that lessen the risk of cancer and a strong proponent of efforts to increase access to lifesaving cancer screenings.
