"As manager and member of the Staple Singers, five-time GRAMMY® nominee Yvonne Staples helped her family's hit-making gospel group achieve success in the 1970s. During her tenure with the group, Yvonne contributed to several hit recordings, including 'Respect Yourself,' 'I'll Take You There,' and 'Be What You Are,' all of which received GRAMMY nominations in the Best R&B Vocal Performance By A Group category. The Staple Singers were also honored with the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Yvonne will be deeply missed, but remembered for helping her family blend gospel, soul, and pop into one signature sound. Our thoughts go out to her loved ones during this difficult time."
