Burbank-based retro fashion retailer, Unique Vintage, has collaborated with American pop culture and fashion icon, Barbie, to bring to life classic Barbie styles for real life fans.
The Barbie x Unique Vintage collaboration, which will be sold through the brand’s online and retail stores, includes a thirteen-piece collection of dresses and separates based on actual Barbie looks worn in 1959 to the mid 60s. The unique collection of Barbie vintage inspired looks pays homage to the fashion of the era while playing up the doll-like details of the original designs including bright colors, playful prints and patterns, and oversized exposed zippers. The vintage-inspired designs include both wiggle and swing silhouettes that accentuate classic feminine style of the time and boast unique, delicate details from extravagant tulle trims, to terrific tweed, to romantic lace. The iconic Barbie style shines through with flattering ensembles for all body types in sizes XS – 4X.
"What little girl hasn’t grown up wanting to dress up like Barbie? It was a thrill making these hard-to-find vintage Barbie clothes go from 8” miniatures to real, wearable pieces. It was an exciting design challenge matching fabric and original details and we couldn’t be happier with the end results," said Unique Vintage owner and CEO Katie Echeverry.
