Seabird by Elizabeth Green Inaugural Review
Owner Elizabeth Green above, and House Burger below
It's not who you know, it's Whom You Know and we now know Elizabeth Green, Founder and Owner of Seabird! Seabird is a lovely neighborhood seafood and comfort food venue downtown incorporating American healthy options you will enjoy. Not only is the cuisine inviting, but Elizabeth sounds far better than Peachy with her British accent.
There are three salad choices, and we started with the superlative Brussel Sprout and Kale Salad, above. You'll discover shaved Brussel sprouts, chopped kale, tomato, red onion, sliced apples, toasted almonds and naturally our favorite vegetable, grana padano cheese (note if you have never read us before, we do incorporate humor). White Balsamic Vinaigrette accompanies this and they put it on the side for us, as we prefer dressing on the side always for salads. Another convincing choice is the Chopped Spring Salad, below.
We thought the peas in this were particularly great! The peas join cucumber, lettuce, avocado, scallions, radishes, tomato and spinach and a refreshing yogurt vinaigrette is the designated dressing, on the side for Peachy. All vegetables were fresh and well presented.
The appetizer that jumped out at us was the Crab Toast, as Peachy possesses a demonstrated affinity for crab. Three pieces of toast greet you with fresh crab meat with corn, avocado, lime relish and a basil accent. The crab and avocado combination is particularly successful.
Grilled to a perfect medium, the House Burger won us over. It was our favorite item from this review. The brisket and short rib blend absolutely hits the spot and combined with cheese, lettuce, mayo, tomato and red onion, the burger is simply sensational and you have got to try it. It's generous in size and great quality meat.
Meet the Seabird Surf and Turf! Traditionally this to us means other meat and seafood however Seabird puts its own spin on it with marvelous marinated chicken breast and rosemary garlic grilled shrimp that combine for a memorable dish. Root veggies join the party on a plate. Finally, we tried the Pan Fried Red Snapper, a solid selection, that Seabird enhances with corn, avocado, lime, red onion and basil relish. We look forward to seeing what Elizabeth does next.
