Naturally, we feel as though this book was written just for us.
We'll uphold the grammatical tradition, and this Perfect English celebrates English decor, the envy of the well-appointed world. As you turn the pages if you are Peachy, you will start to get hungry for Kings' Carriage House as it looks just like it should be in this book so go eat there and read this while you dine.
Time to start your Christmas shopping; this makes a superb gift to all aesthetically-motivated friends and family. The book quality itself is quite laudable in hardcover. We love the needlepoint pillow in the opening pages further enhanced by buttons. With a variance ranging from the eccentric to the country and finally the classic, Perfect English is a superlative celebration of class and style embedded in charming sophistication, beautifully photographed.
You'll absorb exquisite ideas on how you can quite literally up your home style with the turn of each page. And, we love the history with the range going from 80-something to 600-year-old homes. For everyone in Manhattan especially squeezed in to their small space, you can vicariously live in these spreads of English victory that you will surely covet. The stories of restoration are commendable and for everyone with a firsthand knowledge of New England, this will look like home. Although these are each separate homes in feature, the collection is comprehensive and seamless as the style is consistently brilliant. Bradford-on-Avon's Baer house is among our favorites in particular.
PERFECT ENGLISH OF COURSE HAS EARNED WHOM YOU KNOW'S HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
The English style in interior design is admired and imitated the world over.
At its grandest it is a stately home furnished with antiques, but the houses featured in this book are cottages, farmhouses, townhouses and apartments. What links them is as much an attitude as a look. The English style of decoration is practical and informal, designed around the inhabitants of the rooms and their lifestyles rather than to awe or impress. These houses are lived in and loved, with interiors that are comfortable, relaxed and not afraid to be pretty.
The book’s chapters – Plain English, English Eccentric, English Rose, English Country House and Classic English – reflect the many and varied facets of English style, and each section ends with pages devoted to suggestions for furnishing a house in all these versions of English style. At the back of the book, there is also a listing of suppliers to help readers create their very own take on perfect English style
