#NewYorkNotes #WhomWeMiss @RecordingAcad #WhomYouKnow RECORDING ACADEMY™ STATEMENT RE: MICHEL LEGRAND JAN. 28, 2019

Five-time GRAMMY® winner Michel Legrand was a highly esteemed composer, songwriter, and pianist. He earned 17 GRAMMY nominations throughout his career, and was awarded five GRAMMYs for his work in the Best Instrumental Composition, Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s), and Best Jazz Performance By A Big Band categories between 1971 and 1975. Legrand created some of the most notable scores and songs for many classic films, including "The Windmills Of Your Mind," "I Will Wait For You," and "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?," the latter winning the GRAMMY for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) at the 15th GRAMMY Awards®. The music and film industries have lost a legendary talent. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family, collaborators, and loved ones.
