You might even sip tea with Henry!
Of course tea starts with bubbly!
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Kings' Carriage House, one of our favorites for dinner for many years. Did you know they also do Tea? One of the best excursions you can have in the cold tundra of Manhattan right now is to pop in (after making a formal reservation of course) for tea and see Paul, King of the Castle.
The decor in the actual Carriage House cannot be beat and if you go soon, you can still see the Christmas look up. The Celtic/English theme is authentic and prevalent throughout, and it is of course truly Irish because owner Paul Farrell hails from Dublin.
If you have not been before, you should know that Kings' Carriage House is an assortment of rooms rather than one big dining room like the trendy manufactured places that come and go. It is gorgeous and reminiscent of a home that you love to visit. When you are seated you will notice the perfection down to every last detail.
Of course because she lived in Cork City, Peachy ordered Barry's Tea. It's Irish, and it arrived in Henry VIII.
The tea is perfectly hot and steeped to perfection.
Afternoon Tea has been consistent throughout the 26-year history of Kings' Carriage House, and it's composed of three tiers of deliciousness chosen for you.
Savory Finger Sandwiches, Scones and Sweets team up to be the nibbling companions for your tea.
Here are the three tiers.
By far our favorite of the three, the Savory Finger Sandwiches are uniquely delicious and no one else in Manhattan does them as well. Five fabulous flavors await you: Cucumber with Chive Butter, Chopped Egg and Watercress, Sesame Chicken, Goat Cheese tartlettes with mango and tomato, and our favorite...
Oak Smoked Scottish Salmon pinwheels with the salmon hailing from Ireland's west coast are our favorite:
All five finger sandwiches are incredibly detailed and a work of art, before you delicately devour them of course! They are fresh and pair beautifully with any of the tea choices.
The scones are a complete triumph and are amazing and warm when they arrive. They are crafted and baked fresh every day, and we love the raspberry jam and the cream, an equal combination of heavy cream and creme fraiche. This is Manhattan decadence at its best.
Finally, the firework finale is sweet, literally and figuratively.
The baby chocolate pistachio tea cakes and berry tartlettes with ginger creme anglaise wowed us the most and of course we love the little gingerbread person. Baby Poppy Seed Tea Cakes, Baby apricot coconut tea cakes, lemon curd squares, shortbread cookies and dark belgian chocolate dipped strawberries round out the plate.
More people in New York would close amazing business deals if they did it over tea at Kings' Carriage House!
Tea at Kings' Carriage House continues to be Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
