There are two kinds of movies up for The Oscars: A Star is Born, and everything else. Brilliant from the start, A Star is Born exemplifies excellence in both movie and music making and is perhaps the best modern example of the combination. The celebration of unique characters and talent make this a complete winner. Timeless wisdom emanates from the dialogue making this movie larger than life.
No other two individuals other than Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper could have executed such a triumphant victory that has enjoyed some of its first successes at the Grammys and BAFTAs this past weekend, and we think the awards are just getting started. It should take all the Oscars as well says Peachy Deegan. We heard Sean Penn also liked it.
Bradley Cooper as director curated the entire extravaganza so well, which is not surprising given all that he has learned from the legendary Clint Eastwood. Does it get better than Eastwood? We would say not, though we have not had the pleasure of working with him directly or going to his sets. We also loved Jersey Boys.

Cooper did reach his goal of allowing the production to grow, and you are going to love this film.
The A Star is Born story evolves flawlessly, and A Star is Born is the celebration of hard work and an authentic homage to the struggles of mental health, as referenced by Lady Gaga in her acceptance speech at The Grammys. We love her as a brunette in the movie and she nails La Vie En Rose in her opening. It's refreshing to see her without makeup at some stages. We like her character's work ethic in the movie as she shows up for work instead of going to a concert. People that want you make the effort. You'll see what we're talking about.
The best example of why A Star is Born is a winner is that Bradley Cooper is not a singer and Lady Gaga is not an actor. But you wouldn't know it at all because they succeed equally at both-the two of them. This victory is only enhanced by their superlative onscreen chemistry. They make each other better in every way and it is a total pleasure to witness. You know Lady Gaga is an amazing actor when she pretends she doesn't know what it's like to be famous and successful in music!
Excelling in spontaneity, Jack played by Bradley Cooper is the quintessential tired, beaten-down rock star looking for the meaning in life. Battling alcoholism and inner demons, Jack discovers Ally played by Lady Gaga, who brings rebirth to his music. It goes to show you that you never know when you walk into a show of drag queens...or skid princesses as someone whom we know accidentally refers to them.
This movie is also a celebration of the role of caretaker, and explores deep-rooted family issues giving even greater depth to the work. The pronounced sincerity throughout this movie is key to its success and they don't come more true and authentic than Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Raw emotion and solid strength fluctuate at the right moments by the right people capturing your attention throughout.
The supporting cast and the extraordinary music are top-notch. We didn't even recognize Andrew Dice Clay and the talents of Mark Ronson in particular are obviously unparalleled.
On a culinary note, that hotel breakfast looked good. And finally, our pal in Las Vegas Sir Winston will be thrilled to see that there is a dog JUST like him named Charlie.
You could not spend your time more wisely than by watching A STAR IS BORN.

There's only one thing to do when the movie is over. Watch it again. We think we'll watch it on repeat until the Oscars air. You can live life with your rose-colored glasses and see la vie en rose!

Home Entertainment announced today the early 2019 release dates of the 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, the Blu-ray Combo Pack, the DVD Special Edition and Digital versions of the critically acclaimed box office hit “A Star Is Born.” The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD editions will be available to consumers on February 19, or fans can own it early on Digital on January 15. The 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, the Blu-ray Combo Pack, the DVD Special Edition and Digital versions of “A Star Is Born” feature almost 10 minutes of never-before-seen musical performances by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, including “Baby What You Want Me To Do,” “Midnight Special” and “Is That Alright.”
In “A Star Is Born,” Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga fuse their considerable talents to depict the raw and passionate tale of Jack and Ally, two artistic souls coming together, on stage and in life. Theirs is a complex journey through the beauty and heartbreak of a relationship struggling to survive.
In this new take on the iconic love story, four-time Oscar nominee Cooper (“American Sniper,” “American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook”) makes his directorial debut, and also stars alongside multiple award-winning, Oscar-nominated music superstar Gaga in her first leading role in a major motion picture. Cooper portrays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers and falls in love with struggling artist Ally. She has given up on her dream to become a successful singer until she meets Jack, who immediately sees her natural talent.
The film also stars Andrew Dice Clay, with Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott. In addition to playing Ally, Gaga performs original songs in the film with Cooper, which they wrote with a handful of artists, including Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. The music is original and all vocals for the movie were recorded live during filming.
“A Star Is Born” recently received five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Drama; Best Director – Motion Picture, Bradley Cooper; Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, Lady Gaga; Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, Bradley Cooper; and Best Original Song in a Motion Picture, “Shallow.” The film also received three awards from the National Board of Review, including Best Director Bradley Cooper, Best Actress Lady Gaga, and Best Supporting Actor Sam Elliott, as well as four Grammy Award nominations for “Shallow” for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Song Written For Visual Media.
The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “A Star Is Born” will feature Dolby VisionTM HDR that dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “A Star Is Born” will also feature a Dolby Atmos® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.
“A Star Is Born” will also be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.
Fans can also own “A Star Is Born” via purchase from digital retailers beginning January 15.
