Definitely save room for dessert!
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Charlie Marshall! He keeps getting better and better.
The Marshal was last featured in the summer of 2018:
and it has been a Peachy's Pick Since 2014:
You shall not pass go and collect $200 without ordering the wood oven french loaf, baked daily and served with fresh, homemade butter. It does not come to the table automatically.
Many do nice salads, however, we have yet to see another that is WARM which in FEBRUARY is KEY. Above, meet the raw and warm brussels sprouts, focaccia croutons, farmesean cheese and caesar dressing, fresh and crunchy. Not to be outdone and with a burst of pink, Chilled Rosemary Roasted Red Beets announce that vegetables can be fabulous when you know where to find them! Smashed toasted almonds and balsamic glaze grace this nutritious wonder of crimson, which for the rest of the world is also enhanced with goat cheese (an item that Peachy abhors. And they did not include for her, as requested.)
Finally, to round out the salad fireworks, please meet the Apple, Cranberry and Sunchoke Salad! Note this is the winter version of this salad. Sliced apples and sunchoke join dried cranberries, arugula, local honey vinaigrette, blue cheese, candied cherries, walnuts and bee pollen, all amalgamating in delicious nutrition and evidencing further Charlie's commitment to local freshness.
Ta da! Molasses and Bourbon BBQ Pork Ribs absolutely hit the spot on a cold day. These spare ribs are uber-tender and the juicy meatiness slides off the bone so smoothly and will silence even the biggest jabbermouths with their triumphant flavor. Local cabbage, carrot and kale slaw and Martha's vineyard sea salt also come to the party.
If you are a vegetarian you might try the Winter Root Raviolis. Parsnip, turnip and apple are sneakily hiding inside the ravioli to treat your dinner with pizzazz and what we really liked was the classic cacio e pepe touch. Those are crispy fried carrots that garnish the dish.
Our favorite entree without question was the Wood Oven Roasted Icelandic Cod! We love how it luxuriates on a green salad a la Chicken Paillard style, which brings us back to the days of Swifty's which we loved before it closed. The presentation in itself is fabulous and is equaled by the stellar taste. Do not miss the Farmers Market sides!
First in the batting order is the Sweet Potato and Kale Au Gratin.
Au Gratin is a fantastic way to get the kale in, n'est pas Dr. Oz and Richie Byrne?
An even bigger taste winner is the Pork Meatballs in spiral mac and cheese which oozes comfort food like no other!
And finally, duck fat smashed potatoes! Yes yes yes and this little piggy said yum yum yum yum all the way home. The taste and the textures employed throughout these dishes are further testimony to the authenticity of The Marshal because Charlie cares about details.
Our favorite part?
Mixed Berries Shortcake!!! You'll be off the deep end, we'll watch as you dive in.
Leave the ground to go to The Marshal!
The Marshal continues to be Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
