You don't have to be Meg Ryan or John Cougar Mellencamp to suck on this chili dog but we do believe they would enjoy it!

The Liverwurst is the LiverBest!

There's only one place in the world where you can get chili glamour shots like this, and it's OLD TOWN BAR AND GRILL! Since 1892! It's the oldest restaurant we are honored to review, and a Peachy's Pick since 2015.

Owned by Gerard Meagher and his brothers and sisters, this classic hotspot has only had three owning families in its duration, and it is a coveted spot for Hollywood to film movies and tv shows as well as a top spot for you to eat and drink. Currently, Blue Bloods, the Amazing Mrs. Maisel (both seasons), Law and Order and the new Showtime series with Kevin Bacon, Series on a Hill, film at Old Town.

The Chili is a work of art and by far the best chili you can get anywhere. We always check just to make sure. Gerard uses a burger-grade meat in this savory wonder and onions, shredded cheese and spices team up with the fabulous beef which is punctuated with a perfect dollop of sour cream. Peachy didn't even like chili at all or eat it anywhere until she met Old Town's version. Now she cannot get enough (only of theirs.)

It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we love knowing Gerard Meagher, esteemed Fordham grad. We take #evertoexcel both seriously and literally: (you know who was a 4-year tour guide at another Jesuit school) and Gerard and his team have been pursuing excellence extending the illustrious history of their storied venue.

WE LOVE IT HERE.

Their Caesar salad rocks. We love how they put tomatoes in it and we like all of our salads with tomatoes regardless of the salad variety. Romaine forms a laudable base for this fantastically fresh salad with quality sardines lending an air of authenticity. The salad was perfectly dressed, caesar style and this is one exception to the rule of Peachy not liking salad dressing. She DOES LIKE the Old Town Caesar salad dressing and the way it is dressed.

We ventured to try the liverwurst sandwich because frankly we think we have never reviewed one, and we have never tried Old Town's. Accentuated with golden mustard, red onion and munster, one of our most favorite cheeses, this liverwurst proved to be the liverbest of course on classic rye! We reveled in the simplicity and less is more.

The Club Salad is another winner and the marinated chicken is moist, juicy and delicious. Grilled to perfection, the clucker teams up with lettuce, bacon and tomato to make your day. They put the dressing on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky and we do love the ranch dressing here.

Fridays in Lent are upon us and we still aspire to try the Fish and Chips here. We were delighted to try the Flounder Sandwich which is grilled to perfection! Pickles, lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce come to this bun party from under the sea and it is perfect for Fridays especially right now or for making a lighter choice. We love the chili and so it is a natural choice to expand that affection to the Chili Dog!

Of course it is the same Old Town Chili that rules the world. It hits the spot and will make your day. It's perfectly paired with a Guinness of course.

Finally, if you are a carnivore like Peachy Deegan and not a vegan, you will also be delighted by the mushroom steak sandwich which is served up toasted. The next event to get excited about is the 110th anniversary of the urinals here in October 2020! The patent is from 1910 and you may remember that Old Town had a 100 year celebration of them in 2010. Stay tuned!
