As we always say, it's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW.
Since we knew that and along with a lot of other grammar rules and more from our years before Boston College, Peachy was accepted.
So was Elisabeth.
Peachy would have never been on the softball team (she could have been on the golf team but did not want to go away every weekend) but she DID write on the women's basketball team and other women's sports for Eagle Action-see Mike Rutstein!
In the interest of full disclosure, we did not know Elisabeth but interviewed her brother-in-law Matt many times and also her husband Tim, consequently.
If you are an avid reader, you know who wrote about BC sports while she was there and afterwards professionally.
We did go to The View many times when Barbara was at the helm in the good old days, and wanted to meet Elisabeth-we didn't- but we did meet Meredith Vieira. Meredith rocks and so did her show which should still be on the air...so, we were excited to read this book and it is a worthwhile read!
Elisabeth is decidedly Catholic and vocal, however, you do not need to be to appreciate this book. Point of View is an autobiographical well-written story about Elisabeth and how she has capitalized on opportunity as it presented itself and the fantastic personal anecdotes that punctuate each life lesson. Her unique way of viewing life is priceless and we loved it. Her sense of adventure is inspirational and will wow you.
She presents a critical eye on how to live your best life.
We love her Dad's philosophy:
"I know who you are and I know what you can do. I love you. Go show them.
Many maxims she states make a lot of sense:
"You don't miss bigger if you swing bigger."
Her word inventions work well: "difficult-easy" jobs: (p. 65) - meaning: "...the unfortunate, unnecessary, manufactured stressful surroundings exponentially negate the blessing of the comforts."
She is funny. Wait until you hear about what she almost drank.
Above all, Elisabeth possesses a great life attitude of putting friendship and people above politics: perhaps this is what is in most short supply today and we enjoyed reading about her Whoopi stories.
And, her ability to bounce back and reinvent herself is evidenced by this book!
Finally, Elisabeth, check out Peachy's tweet to you from last Friday with the Peanut Butter picture. We know how to use that tool well. However, no matter how good Mama's meatballs might be, in our humble opinion, Sal Scognamillo's at Patsy's the one and only cannot be beat. Stay tuned!

In her new book, Point of View: A Fresh Look at Faith, Work and Freedom (WaterBrook; ISBN: 9780525652762; March 26, 2019; $23.00), Emmy Award–winning talk show host, former broadcaster, and New York Times best-selling author Elisabeth Hasselbeck presents a deeply intimate journey of her faith and the pivotal moments that tested and strengthened her relationship with God along the way. After being hired, fired and retired, Hasselbeck has been inspired to have more Godversations and less condemnation.
Hasselbeck believes that the most amazing freedom is to be able to drop the alias, the pretending, and the image one might try to project and be true to oneself. “God created each of us to be unique. Living as someone else will always lead to failure because it is not living as the individuals we were designed to be,” writes Hasselbeck. “The right time to be true to yourself is…well, always.”
From surviving Survivor to not surviving The View, Hasselbeck bares her heart about her failures, triumphs, and lessons learned through these important life moments. Thrust into the spotlight on Survivor and then the round table at The View, for ten years she learned in front of millions of viewers how to share her opinions boldly, sincerely, and honestly. Mentored professionally and personally, Hasselbeck shares about her relationships with Barbara Walters, Kathie Lee Gifford, Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Doocy, and Brian Kilmeade. “I can say without hesitation that my decade at The View strengthened my mind, refined my citizen’s heart, and sharpened my skill,” says Hasselbeck. “As small as my lone voice felt in the arena, I trusted that God had a purpose planted in it.”
Point of View is an intimate walk of faith as Hasselbeck writes mom to mom, friend to friend, and mother to daughter. She shares important moments of her life’s story that have caused her to see things from a different perspective.
