#TerrificTakeout #SushiGama by #EvanChen #InauguralReview

FASHION ROLL!
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we now know Evan Chen, whom we were delighted to recently meet at his venue, Sushi Gama.  In our experience, it is rare to find great sushi and we had a positive experience here with the first few items we tried in terms of quality and freshness, and it is a plus that they were showing The Stanley Cup Playoffs which is essential this time of year.

They were extremely busy when we visited, a good sign.  We look forward to returning when we can learn more directly when it is not prime time!

The green salad we opted for was the House Sashimi Salad, which is extraordinary in both aesthetics and taste.  Tuna, salmon, white tuna, mango, avocado and mixed greens team up for a fresh, invigorating well-chopped salad that is just fabulous.  This is an enlightened salad: perfect for spring.  Open since March 2017, Sushi Gama is on Second Avenue on the Upper East Side.

The last several times Peachy has eaten fried rice have not even been in the State of New York.  Other ones in New York we have tried are too greasy or not fresh enough for Picky Peachy so she orders it in another state.  The Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Chicken is amazing and we reveled in every bite.  It is fresh.  It is NOT greasy.  We can't wait to try it with shrimp.  The plates are also beautiful, which is important.

The sushi we tried was delicious and unique without being overdone and ridiculous.  It achieved an ideal balance of flavorful, impressive and individual.  We love garlic, thus we tried the Spicy Garlic Salmon Roll, above.
Spicy crunch salmon is prepared by diligent, serious chefs dedicated to their craft.  They add cucumber with fresh salmon, jalapeno, and the spicy garlic is texturized on top.  Served with sweet and spicy sauce, this hits the spot this spring.

Meet the aptly named Fashion Roll.  It is dressed to the nines for your sushi feast and it gracefully pivots on the runway of a plate.  If your sushi isn't striking a pose like this, you know where to go now.  Sliced tuna and salmon, yellowtail, cucumber, avocado and lettuce with tobiko outside combine for a delicious look, both viewed by your eyes and tasted on your palate.

We look forward to seeing what Evan and his team do next.
