For the second consecutive year, Bloomingdale’s flagship store at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue became a runway for members of FIT’s Runway27. This time, in addition to styling and modeling the looks, students used the retailer’s Fall ’19 Mix Masters collection to interpret The Museum at FIT’s Minimalism/Maximalism exhibition. Minimalism/Maximalism curator Melissa Marra was the fashion show’s special guest and judge, selecting Awa Kade for Best Walk; Emily Peguero with Kristian Grant for Best Makeup; and Grace Lee with Sophia Gutierrez for Best Stylist.
The models’ hair and makeup was done by students at Empire Beauty Schools.
Runway27 is a student club that was founded in 2013 by students who wanted an outlet to express their knowledge of and passion for the fashion industry. It boasts membership of approximately 200 students from across all majors. Students conceptualize, design, and produce the entire show from start to finish, and students even shoot the photos of the event.
