And no, the Fix is not about Thomas Morrissey updating Peachy's haircolor! To see that literal fix read this:
With her haircolor the right shade, Peachy Deegan and company cracked open the third installment in the Amos Decker hit parade by David Baldacci, who writes every word himself and you can tell as the talent jumps off every page and takes you away from the terrible Manhattan heat wave and even worse political and crime situation. Absolutely the best thing you can do right now still is to crack open a good book with your air on high and Baldacci has delivered again! You need to fill in the prior gap of what Amos Decker has accomplished to fully appreciate where he is now in this timeline of books. If you are lucky enough to be sitting by a pool or at your private beach, first of all we are jealous and second of all you need to take a swim break and read this!
Usually in a mystery, you are trying to figure out whodunnit. However, in his consummate genius, Baldacci has totally flipped it around in The Fix because it starts where it usually ends: with who did what. The complete mystery here is the backstory of WHY. You think you know someone...but do you?!?
Chapter one begins with the sentence: IT WAS NORMALLY ONE OF THE SAFEST PLACES ON EARTH. Sound familiar Manhattan? Have you added the Citizen App to your smartphone?!? Right off the bat, this book is relatable. All the usual suspects of the winning team are back to delight you including Alex, Ross and of course Melvin. You'll say enchantee when you meet Harper Brown (what a fashionable name...you know what Victoria Beckham's daughter is called) and you'll be wowed with her prowess.
Is Anne Berkshire really just a nice Catholic girl? You'll have to read this, no clowning around!
The Fix is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to write down his stories. (Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, “because every mom needs a break now and then.”)
David published his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996. The feature film adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, David has published 41 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. His novels are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with 150 million copies sold worldwide. David has also published seven novels for younger readers.
A lifelong Virginian, David received his Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, after which he practiced law in Washington, D.C.
In addition to being a prolific writer, David is a devoted philanthropist, and his greatest efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation®. Established by David and his wife, Michelle, the Wish You Well Foundation supports family and adult literacy programs in the United States. In 2008 the Foundation partnered with Feeding America to launch Feeding Body & Mind, a program to address the connection between literacy, poverty and hunger. Through Feeding Body & Mind, more than 1 million new and gently used books have been collected and distributed through food banks to families in need.
David and his family live in Virginia.
