THREE HARD LAPS

* The Rangers recorded eight goals in a game for the third time in 2020-21, their highest such total in a single season since 1992-93 (5x).

* Patrice Bergeron scored three times against the Flyers as Boston recorded three hat tricks versus one opponent in a single season for the first time in 76 years.

* The Maple Leafs and Canadiens, who have been trending toward a head-to-head meeting in the opening round of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, are set to square off in their first of six matchups scheduled over the next 31 days.

PANARIN, FOX LEAD RANGERS IN EIGHT-GOAL OUTBURST
Artemi Panarin (1-3—4) tallied a season-high four points – which marked the fourth straight game in which he found the score sheet multiple times – and Adam Fox (1-2—3) extended his career-high point streak to 11 contests (3-18—21) as the Rangers (18-15-5, 41 points) erupted for eight goals to move ahead of the Flyers (18-15-5, 41 points) for fifth place in the MassMutual East Division. New York scored eight or more goals in a game for the third time this season, tied with Colorado for the most such outings in 2020-21.

* Fox factored on 11 consecutive power-play goals by the Rangers dating to March 19 (0-11—11) – his run ended at 6:10 of the third period when Kaapo Kakko scored one with Jacob Trouba and Colin Blackwell drawing assists. Fox became the second player in franchise history to factor on 11 straight power-play goals (since 1933-34 when goals by type were officially tracked), following Red Sullivan who had a run of equal length from Dec. 3, 1958 to Jan. 4, 1959 (4-7—11).

LAMORIELLO TIES SATHER FOR SECOND PLACE ON NHL’S ALL-TIME WINS LIST
Lou Lamoriello of the Islanders earned his 1,319th career win as an NHL general manager and tied Glen Sather for second place in League history. David Poile of the Predators, who earned a 3-2 shootout win over the Red Wings on Tuesday to strengthen their grip on fourth place in the Discover Central Division, tops the all-time list with 1,436.

* Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves as New York (25-10-4, 54 points) blanked Washington (25-10-4, 54 points) and matched the Capitals for the most points in the MassMutual East Division. Washington owns the ROW tiebreaker (WSH: 23, NYI: 22).

BERGERON, STAAL SCORE MULTIPLE GOALS IN WINS
Patrice Bergeron (3-0—3) and Jordan Staal (2-0—2) scored multiple goals to lead the Bruins (20-10-6, 46 points) and Hurricanes (26-9-3, 55 points) to wins on Tuesday:

* Bergeron scored the sixth hat trick of his NHL career and eclipsed 900 regular-season points (367-535—902 in 1,125 GP) – at 35 years and 256 days old, he became the oldest Boston player with three or more goals in a game since Dave Andreychuk (36 years, 29 days) on Oct. 28, 1999. Bergeron accounted for the third hat trick by a Bruins player against the Flyers this season, following David Pastrnak on Feb. 3 and Feb. 21.

* Staal tallied two of Carolina’s four unanswered third-period goals and Vincent Trocheck posted 1-1—2 as the Hurricanes halted the Discover Central Division-leading Panthers’ season-high win streak at six games. Carolina moved within one point of Florida (26-10-4, 56 points) – the clubs are set to meet in three more head-to-head games this season.

SWAYMAN, THOMPSON LEAVE MARK IN NHL DEBUTS

* Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 40 saves to earn a win in his League debut. He became the fourth Boston goaltender with 40 or more saves in his first NHL game (since 1955-56 when shots on goal were officially tracked), following Bernie Parent on Nov. 3, 1965 (42), Andre Gill on Dec. 23, 1967 (41) and Eddie Johnston on Oct. 25, 1962 (40).

* Devils forward Tyce Thompson collected an assist at 4:22 of the first period in his League debut. He skated across from his brother, Sabres forward Tage Thompson – their family was also present at Prudential Center as Buffalo rallied past New Jersey to extend its point streak.

QUICK CLICKS

AVALANCHE PUT POINT STREAK ON THE LINE DURING WEDNESDAY'S SLATE
A total of 10 teams are in action on Wednesday, including the League-leading Avalanche (13-0-2 since March 10) putting their 15-game point streak on the line when they take on the Wild again at Xcel Energy Center. Colorado can match the franchise record for longest point streak, a mark set in 2000-01 en route to winning the Stanley Cup (12-0-4).

MAPLE LEAFS, CANADIENS SET TO SQUARE OFF AT SCOTIABANK ARENA
The Scotia North Division-leading Maple Leafs (26-10-3, 55 points) and fourth-place Canadiens (17-9-9, 43 points) are set to square off in their first of six head-to-head games scheduled over the next 31 days. The last time the Original Six rivals met six times over a span of 31 days or fewer was during the 1967 Stanley Cup Final.

* Jack Campbell is 9-0-0 in nine appearances this season (1.53 GAA, .944 SV%, 2 SO) and can match the longest season-opening win streak by a goaltender in NHL history, a mark set by Carey Price in 2016-17. Montreal, which will look to snap Toronto’s eight-game point streak (7-0-1), earned a multi-goal comeback win over Edmonton in its last outing in which Eric Staal scored the overtime winner during his team debut.

COYOTES CAN ACHIEVE RARE FEAT WITH ANOTHER HAT TRICK
Arizona, which received three goals from Jakob Chychrun on Sunday and Michael Bunting on Monday, can become the first team in over 11 years with at least one hat trick in three consecutive games. The last club to do so were the Capitals in 2009-10 (Alex Ovechkin, Brooks Laich & Alexander Semin).
