Whom You Know has been impressed with David Baldacci many times and he was most recently featured this past spring:
A Gambling Man is an absolute must read!
Today we return to Atlee Pine, and we reach the conclusion of her saga.
Previously she was featured in:
A Long Road to Mercy
A Minute to Midnight
Daylight
Bien sur mes amies, read them in order!
One tough cookie, Atlee Pine has had quite the life with no shortage of challenges, trials and tribulations. Her saga reaches a climax in Mercy as - you guessed it - she finally meets her other half. We think you knew this from the title but we will confirm this, but will not give away any part of the plot as you are to READ THIS!
Weighing in at 400 pages, Mercy is not a light read but the alacrity at which the story evolves is perfection. You should set aside premium undisturbed time to enjoy it! We love that Atlee is a swimmer.
Oh how we love that there is an ELOISE here (Cain is an ox; ironically she has no mercy) and we have reviewed MANY MANY Eloise books. Sadly there is no Plaza and this is all very rough and tumble and best enjoyed on your couch. Baldacci sets the standard in action writing and you'll be able to visualize the twists and turns and pure physicality of many of the scenes in vivid color in your head, as agreed unanimously by our readers.
Motives matter. What's business? What's personal? You'll be constantly guessing as Baldacci has followed in the Agatha footsteps with the red herrings.
Overcoming adversity is essential to success, and we all have confronted that with covid. Be inspired by a fictional heroine who just might triumph! Who helps her might surprise you...As you do your holiday shopping, keep in mind these four books make a great gift!
Mercy is Recommended by Whom You Know.
Following David Baldacci’s New York Times bestseller DAYLIGHT, Atlee Pine returns in MERCY (Grand Central Publishing; November 16, 2021), where her harrowing search for her long-lost sister reaches a boiling point.
For her entire life, FBI Agent Atlee Pine has been searching for her twin sister, Mercy, who was abducted at the age of six and never seen again. Mercy’s disappearance left behind a damaged family that later shattered beyond repair when Atlee’s parents inexplicably abandoned her. Now, after a perilous investigation that has nearly proven fatal, Atlee has finally discovered not only the reason behind her parents’ abandonment, but also the most promising breakthrough yet: proof that Mercy survived her abduction and then escaped her captors many years ago.
Though Atlee is tantalizingly close to her family at last, the final leg of her long road to Mercy will be the most treacherous. Mercy left at least one dead body behind before fleeing her captors. Atlee has no idea if her sister is still alive, nor how she has been surviving all this time. When the truth is finally revealed, Atlee Pine will face the greatest danger yet, and it may well cost her everything.
