Music Director Jaap van Zweden will conduct the New York Philharmonic Gala concert, December 2, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. at Alice Tully Hall, celebrating the Philharmonic’s return to the stage after cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Violinist Itzhak Perlman is the soloist in Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1. The program also features Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro Overture; Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Classical; and J. Strauss II’s On the Beautiful Blue Danube.

Itzhak Perlman last appeared with the New York Philharmonic in November 2016, as both soloist and conductor. He made his Philharmonic debut in May 1965 as the 1964 Leventritt Award Winner in a program conducted by William Steinberg; the Gala marks his 85th Philharmonic appearance. Mr. Perlman has been a New York Philharmonic Board member since 2010.

The Gala will include a pre-concert reception in the Och Foyer at Alice Tully Hall from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., the concert at 7:30 p.m., and a formal-attire dinner in the Morgan Stanley Lobby immediately following the performance. Dinner attendees are invited to remain for an after-dinner lounge, with music provided by New Orleans–style jazz combo Del and the Rad Rompers.
