Dir. Marie Amiguet, Vincent Munier, 2021, 92 min
In French with English subtitles
In the heart of the Tibetan highlands, multi-award-winning nature photographer Vincent Munier guides writer Sylvain Tesson on his quest to document the infamously elusive snow leopard. Munier introduces Tesson to the subtle art of waiting in a blind spot, tracking animals, and finding the patience to catch sight of the beasts. Through their journey in the Tibetan peaks, inhabited by invisible presences, the two men ponder humankind’s place among the magnificent creatures and glorious landscapes they encounter along the way.
Presented as part of the 8th annual New York WILD Film Festival (April 1–9) and FIAF's April CinéSalon series. The full CinéSalon series will be announced later this month.

Dir. Max Ophüls, 1953, 100 min, 35 mm
With Danielle Darrieux, Charles Boyer, Vittorio De Sica
In French with English subtitles
The most cherished work from Max Ophüls, the film is a profoundly emotional, cinematographically adventurous tale of deceptive opulence and tragic romance. An aristocratic woman sets off a chain reaction of financial and carnal consequences when she sells a pair of earrings given to her by her husband.
"Everyone must see this gem on the big screen at least once in their life!" — Arnaud Desplechin

In English
Built around an extraordinary, fearless performance from Mary Kay Place, this narrative debut from Kent Jones is a profound, beautifully human portrait of a woman rifling through the wreckage of her life in search of redemption.
A New York Times Critic’s Pick: “A vibrant tale of love, sisterhood, and decline. Mary Kay Place is astonishing."— Jeannette Catsoulis

Dir. Ingmar Bergman, 1971, 115 min
With Elliott Gould, Bibi Andersson, Max von Sydow
In English & Swedish with English subtitles
In his underappreciated first English-language film, Ingmar Bergman delivered a compelling portrait of conflicting desires. A torrid affair between seemingly contented housewife Karin and intense American archeologist David threatens the stability of her life with her husband.
“What red-blooded passion there is in ‘The Touch’, a film about grownups for grownups.” — Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
Celebrating Molière's 400th Birthday
HD Screening
Molière’s Uncensored Tartuffe
by Comédie-Française
US Premiere: Wed, Mar 30 at 7pm
FIAF Florence Gould Hall
Directed by Ivo van Hove
In English
Join us for the Comédie-Française HD screening of Ivo van Hove’s visionary new interpretation of Tartuffe, which was broadcast widely across France in celebration of Molière’s 400 year legacy.
The Catholic Church was outraged by Molière’s Tartuffe, a play about a dubiously pious crook who is happy to use the bible as a prop for personal gain.
Ivo van Hove reimages the original version of Tartuffe, censored in 1664 by the King the day after its premiere and performed only once in its history. He turns up the controversy, producing a modern new staging that pushes the boundaries of classical theater.
