#SpringForward with #SkipSupplyNetwork 5 Tips Spring Garden Clearance
Spring is finally on its way and, even if it is only creeping along, it is definitely staying lighter for just a minute or two longer each day. As such, all the gardeners out there are taking full advantage of the extra daylight, clearing space in their gardens for the new spring growth! So if your garden is in need of some help, follow our few simple tips to get it back into shape…
Tidy away any leaves and garden debris left
over from Autumn, clear out your borders and weed your lawn and beds. Any
decaying vegetation left behind will provide the perfect home for slugs and
snails so give your new crop of flowers and veg a fighting chance by limiting
the number of places the slimy creatures can hide in your garden!
Another way to reduce the number of slugs and
snails is to invite birds into your garden by hanging bird feeders. They’ll be
grateful for the helping hand in early spring and will pick unwanted slugs,
snails and woodlice off as a tasty treat! And of course you get the added
benefit of enjoying birdsong in the mornings and watching all the different
birds come and go from your garden during the summer.
Clean away any algae or moss that has grown on
your paths, steps or patio over the winter. This is easy to do with some
special path cleaner and a sweeping brush or a pressure washer to blast away
the slippery growth!
It’s also the perfect time to clear out all
the rubbish that’s accumulated in your shed or garage over the previous year.
If you pick a nice, bright day you can empty the contents of your shed onto the
garden and give it a good clean. It’s the perfect way to start the new
gardening year as you’ll know exactly where everything is and you’ll have a
nice fresh workspace for potting on.
If the branches on your conifer or pine trees
have been splayed out by snowfall you should consider tying them up or wrapping
them up in black, 1in nylon netting. This will provide some much needed support
for the branches and allow new growth to come through.
There’s always something to do to keep you busy
until it’s time to plant and nurture new growth, but make sure you have a plan
for your garden waste disposal. Otherwise you’ll find you have to keep stopping
to make unnecessary trips to the tip, and probably clean your car out
afterwards!
The easiest thing to do is contact waste
management specialists – to discuss your skip hire
requirements. Ensure that you get the right skip size
that will suit your project and that the delivery and collection times will be
as and when you need them.
