U.S. Book Show a “Resounding Success,” Announces 2023 Dates
With the U.S. Book Show’s second successful year under its belt, Publishers Weekly is pleased to announce the dates for next year’s show, which will run May 23 – 25, 2023. The 2022 virtual show saw more than 5,000 registrants, including 3,000 librarians, 800 booksellers and 900 members of the media. Participants represented nearly every state in the U.S. and province in Canada, as well as the U.K. Italy, Trinidad, Ireland and a dozen other countries.
“The U.S. Book Show has once again been a resounding success," said Cevin Bryerman, CEO and publisher of Publishers Weekly, which conceived and manages the show. “We anticipate the 2023 U.S. Book Show will build on the accomplishments of the first two years, creating a valuable experience for booksellers, librarians and the publishing community.”
Publishers Weekly has spent the last two weeks surveying and interviewing booksellers, librarians and publishers about the value of a centralized industrywide U.S. trade show. Samples of the results are to be published in the June 13, 2022 issue of Publishers Weekly (available digitally on June 11, 2022).
The 2022 show, which was virtual, featured keynote author conversations by David Sedaris, PEN Ukraine president Andrey Kurkov, Oscar Isaac, John Grisham, Congressman Jamie Raskin, Celeste Ng, Christopher Finan, Kwame Alexander and Mo Willems. Focused on forthcoming Fall 2022 books, author roundtables spurred conversations among celebrity and A-list authors such as Constance Wu, Amber Ruffin, Jon Scieszka, Chloe Gong and others. The ever-popular PW-curated Editors’ Picks panels gave viewers a category-by-category overview of the biggest Fall 2022 books. Networking, chat rooms, exhibits and galley giveaways were rounded out with industry panels, buzz sessions, a professional development track for librarians and bookselling panels headed up by the American Booksellers Association.
All content—speeches, industry and buzz panels, author panels and exhibit halls—are available for show attendees and prior registrants on-demand through August 31, 2022 at the U.S. Book Show digital platform.
