The National Hockey League announced today that Jim Montgomery of the Boston Bruins (Atlantic), Peter DeBoer of the Dallas Stars (Central), Rod Brind'Amour of the Carolina Hurricanes (Metropolitan) and Bruce Cassidy of the Vegas Golden Knights (Pacific) will serve as the head coaches for the 2023 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend, Feb. 3-4 in South Florida.
Under the All-Star selection process, the head coach of the team with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in each of the four divisions through games of Wednesday, Jan. 11 – the halfway point of the regular season – guide the respective All-Star rosters.
Montgomery's Bruins (.850, 32-4-4), DeBoer's Stars (.667, 25-11-6), Brind'Amour's Hurricanes (.695, 25‑9‑7) and Cassidy's Golden Knights (.667, 27-13-2) all are assured of recording the highest points percentages in their respective divisions through Wednesday's games.
DeBoer will be making his third All-Star Weekend appearance as a head coach, the most among the quartet. He previously led the Pacific Division All-Stars representing the San Jose Sharks in 2017 and Golden Knights in 2022. Brind'Amour (Hurricanes/Metropolitan Division in 2022) and Cassidy (Bruins/Atlantic Division in 2020) will be making their second appearance, while Montgomery will be making his All-Star head coaching debut.
2023 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend Rosters
The NHL announced 32 players named to the four divisional rosters for the 2023 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend on Jan. 5. The 32 All-Stars -- seven skaters and one goaltender for each of the four divisional rosters -- were selected by the NHL’s Hockey Operations Department. One player was selected from each NHL team.
The 2023 NHL All-Star Fan Vote™ presented by Guaranteed Rate from Jan. 5-17 is enabling fans to complete the All-Star rosters by selecting 12 additional All-Stars: two skaters and one goaltender for each of the four All-Star teams. The program also features a Twitter vote for the first time. The Twitter vote will take place over three days, from Thursday, Jan. 12, at 12:01 a.m. ET to Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11:59 p.m., ET. All Twitter votes will be combined with online vote totals.
The 12 All-Stars elected by fans will be announced by NHL national rightsholders ESPN, Sportsnet and TVA during broadcast windows on Thursday, Jan. 19.

The League’s regular-season schedule will pause from Feb. 2-5 when the world’s top players gather in South Florida for the 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend at FLA Live Arena. The midseason showcase will include the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills™ presented by DraftKings on Friday, Feb. 3
(7 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, TVAS), and the 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Saturday, Feb. 4 (3 p.m. ET, ABC, ESPN+, CBC, Sportsnet, TVAS).
