Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant from Metro-Goldwyn Mayer will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 20.
Directed by prolific filmmaker Guy Ritchie (Wrath of Man, Aladdin) from a screenplay by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, the film is produced by Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, John Friedberg and Josh Berger.
Previously on Whom You Know, Ritchie was lauded for his work on Wrath of Man in 2021, Highly Recommended for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. when we saw it with Warner Brothers in 2015, and and Wrath of Man's protagonist, H played by Jason Statham was previously featured and also Highly Recommended for his work on THE MEG in 2018, also released by the highly talented Warner Brothers!
Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant stars Jake Gyllenhaal (Ambulance, Spider-Man: Far from Home), Dar Salim (Game of Thrones), Antony Starr (The Boys), Alexander Ludwig who has previously been recognized for his stellar Vikings work (Bad Boys for Life, Vikings), Bobby Schofield (Cherry), Emily Beecham (Cruella) and Jonny Lee Miller (T2 Trainspotting). We love the military response addressing the attack on New York for 9.11 for obvious reasons, and we love the verbiage in this film surrounding a certain kind of debt. Are you the kind of person that pays your debts? Ritchie crescendos at the right moment and the last twenty percent of the movie is the most exciting by far, but you need to watch the first 80 percent to get the context of the ending.
ABOUT THE FILM
Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant follows US Army Sergeant John Kinley (Gyllenhaal) and Afghan interpreter Ahmed (Salim). After an ambush, Ahmed goes to Herculean lengths to save Kinley’s life. When Kinley learns that Ahmed and his family were not given safe passage to America as promised, he must repay his debt by returning to the war zone to retrieve them before the Taliban hunts them down.
