In conjunction with the intrinsic nature of the Greek Mediterranean diet incorporated like no other venue as Dimitris is an Athens, Greece native, Ammos is one restaurant that keeps in mind the dietary needs of all its patrons: Vegans, Vegetarians, Pescatarians and Carnivores!  We argue there is no place better for Pescatarians (we are talking to you, Mover and Shaker Chrishaunda).  On both the lunch and dinner menus for restaurant week you will discover the absolutely amazing Salata Kipou, pictured above!  It is dedicated to the Vegans!!!
Whether you are a Vegan or a Deegan everyone with a heightened appreciation for the finest in in produce will celebrate with the glorious amalgamation of baby arugula, fine julienne carrots, mixed peppers, brussels sprouts, haricots verts, and tri-color cauliflower.  All of it dances beautifully in a thoughtfully applied light lemon garlic dressing, a beacon of summer.
There are two different types of Spanakopita in this world: The SPANAKOPITA at Ammos Estiatorio, and the Spanakopita everywhere else that dreams of growing up one day and becoming it.  The fine dining essential Greek experience is devastatingly delicious when you meet the sequential layers of traditional spinach pie that parties with barrel-aged feta of course sourced from Greece and the secret sauce to winning you over is the brilliant contrast with tomato sauce and just the right hint of mint evoo.  Satisfying yet perfectly light for summer, the Spanakopita is a total home run and is dedicated especially to the Vegetarians.  It is on both the lunch and dinner restaurant week menus.
Pescatarians: Psari Imeras is your Greek word of the day and it means Fish of the Day.  The fresh catch the day we took a trip to 52 Vanderbilt Avenue was the tantalizing broiled Filet of Red Snapper which majestically perched upon a tomato vegetable couscous further enhanced with the drizzled olive oil lemon sauce that really heightened the flavor.  Onion, zucchini, mushrooms, corn and red and yellow bell pepper upped the nutritional benefits even more.  This is found on both the lunch and dinner menu.
Found only on the lunch menu is the sensational carnivorous delight: Bifteki Arni!!!!!
If you have yet to experience a lamb burger, this is a real treat and fresh and authentic especially at Ammos.  Onion, lettuce and tomato make this American tradition uniquely Greek and the rosemary oregano fries fetchingly presented in silver make a perfect burger wingman.  The best red meat experiences are paired with an exceptional red, so please meet Meth’ Imon 7!   It takes its name from the 7 grapes in its blend. With 18 months in French and American oak, and a few more in the bottle, Meth’ Imon 7 comes with a purple color and a concentrated nose of blackberries, red fruits, mint, ink, milk chocolate and creamy oak. It was planted in Central Greece in 1991 at 520m altitude.  The palate derived from minerals including iron in the soil is full-bodied, opulent and velvety dry medium body with a highlighted oak character and a perfect structure with a celebratory spicy finish that makes you say YAMAS!!!!!
