#Stonehouse #Britbox @BritBox_US #BBC #America Starring the Dynamic Duo #KeeleyHawes and #MatthewMacfadyen #Highly #Recommended by @ManhattanPeachy #PeachyDeegan

Right down to the Strange Fruit which is PEACHY, Stonehouse absolutely kills it with the most entertaining cast ever! It's led by the brilliant Keeley Hawes, whom we have featured many times; she has been previously lauded for: Upstairs Downstairs One, Upstairs Downstairs Two, The Lady Vanishes and we also loved her in Corfu although we did not publish on it. Other than the stellar casting, what we love about this most is the Highsmith-esque script a la Tom Ripley: showing up somewhere new with a different name! The scene with three passports was reminiscent of Alain Delon in particular.

It's accurate as a period piece (1970's) and is a bit like the Sopranos of the UK and Australia without being Italian. Our only question is Tom, WHERE IS COUSIN GREG???? Peachy is crying her eyes out that you are not working together now but the smartest director out there will put you together again soon. Obviously, Matthew MacFadyen has been praised for his Succession work all around! And in real life, Keeley and Matthew are also married-they play married on this show and have undeniable authentic chemistry. The casting people for this got it right.

STONEHOUSE is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.

A three-part True Con Drama covering the extraordinary story of disgraced Labour Minister John Stonehouse (BAFTA-Winner and Emmy-nominated Matthew Macfadyen, Succession,Quiz) – a charismatic, high-flying politician who vanished from a Florida beach in 1974, leaving behind a neatly folded pile of clothes as well as his wife (Keeley Hawes, The Midwich Cuckoos, It's A Sin) and children.

A shocked public and media presumed he had drowned or been eaten by sharks but in reality he had faked his own death to cover up the secret life he had been living, which included an affair with his secretary (Emer Heatley, Show Trial). Written by acclaimed author John Preston (The Dig, A Very English Scandal), directed by BAFTA-nominated Jon S. Baird (Stan & Ollie, Vinyl) and produced by Ruth Kenley-Letts (The Midwich Cuckoos, CB Strike) and Ellie Wood (The Dig, Decline & Fall).

SERIES SYNOPSIS

A three-part drama, based on the extraordinary rise and fall of MP John Stonehouse (Emmy
winner Matthew Macfadyen). As a high-flying member of HAROLD WILSON’s Labour
government and a seemingly devoted family man, Stonehouse’s perfect life spirals out of
control in the early 1970s amid rumors of fraud and espionage.
It turns out that while Stonehouse has been climbing the political ladder, he’s also been forging
secret relationships - with his secretary Sheila Buckley (Emer Heatley) and shadowy figures in
Prague - that will threaten him personally and professionally.
As the drama unfolds, suspicion from his wife Barbara Stonehouse (BAFTA nominee Keeley
Hawes) and the media grows. Stonehouse embarks on an outlandish escape plan that will lead
him to Miami, Melbourne and eventually - hand-in-hand with Sheila - the dock of London’s
highest criminal court.
All this, while Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s (Kevin R. McNally) slender lead hangs in the
balance.
It’s a story, inspired by sensational true events, that explores the price of ambition, the
pressures of politics and how attitudes towards mental health have changed in the last 50
years.
