Exclusive Lancôme x Louvre collaboration - Beauty is an art in motion

The Louvre Museum and Lancôme are joining forces in an unprecedented collaboration. Inspired by nine masterpieces from the sculpture department, as well as by the lights and colors of the museum, Lancôme has imagined a limited-edition skincare and make-up collection, signed Lancôme x Louvre.

The campaign that embodies this launch was shot at the Louvre Museum, with Zendaya, Aya Nakamura , Amanda Seyfried and He Cong, ambassadors for the collaboration. These four figures, images of the beauty of our time, appropriate and embody with their strong personalities the codes and myths of certain sculpture icons.

The Louvre, a source of inspiration

The Louvre Museum was designed from its creation, in 1793, as a place where artists could learn from the works of the great masters, and be inspired to create in turn. Even today, the Louvre is a living museum, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for all creators, while the history of art continues to enlighten our times in many areas. For this unprecedented partnership, Lancôme was inspired by the Venus de Milo, the Victory of Samothrace, Corine, the Diana of Gabies, the Nymph with the Scorpion, Echo, Hygeia, the Venus of Arles and finally, Hermaphrodite. Each of her works, through its history and that of the myth it embodies, has inspired Lisa Eldridge , make-up creative director at Lancôme,

" I am delighted with this first collaboration with Lancôme, which illustrates with great talent the diversity of forms of beauty presented by the collections of the Louvre, where cultures and civilizations dialogue across centuries and geographies. The choice of the Venus de Milo, the Nymph with the scorpion or even the Diana of Gabies as ambassadors for this campaign allows the iconic and inspiring images of antiquity to travel and to confront them with contemporary representations and canons. . The history of art and beauty, of its "making" and its quest, are intimately linked. Pop culture, that of the moving image, advertising, social networks, our daily life, is often inspired by these timeless representations and images, sometimes very scholarly, sometimes very old. The collections of the Louvre Museum are astonishing and captivating in that they allow us to read and understand how its canons are transformed, interpreted and evolved. With this collaboration, the Louvre, a contemporary place of art, participates in this writing of beauty in the present ".

“ At Lancôme, beauty is an art in motion; beauty itself, as a personal ritual, is the way to express yourself and to stand out, with constantly evolving codes – in fact, without a code. This creative and unprecedented partnership with the Louvre is the cultural testimony of this conviction and of our mission for beauty at Lancôme. By continuing the dialogue between our French brand, rich in nearly 90 years of history, and the most emblematic temple of art, we want, in continuity, to open up new perspectives in terms of beauty for women in today from our artistic heritage and celebrate the fact that beauty is in perpetual motion. »
