The Singapore Chinese Music Federation, the Singapore China Cultural Centre, and the Guqin Association of Singapore are proud to present the highly anticipated 4th Singapore Guqin Arts Festival. Taking place at the esteemed Singapore China Cultural Centre or Singapore Orchestra Concert Hall (Singapore Conference Hall) from 26 August to 28 August 2023, this prestigious event will captivate audiences with a celebration of the ancient art of Guqin music.
The event is organised by He Yue Zhai, Huá Xià Xuán Yīn (华夏璇音), and Singapore Raffles Music College, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Guqin Arts being inscribed on UNESCO's list of the "Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity".
The 4th Singapore Guqin Arts Festival promises to be even more remarkable and will feature a series of events including captivating Guqin art exhibitions, concerts by famous artists, and the highly anticipated world-class International Guqin Championship. Generously sponsored by Nán Fēng Gǔ Qín and Yuè shèng qín xián, the championship offers a total prize value of nearly S$300,000.
Singapore will serve as the stage for Guqin masters from around the world to showcase the new face of this ancient art form in today's era during the International Guqin Championship, a highlight of the festival. Distinguished judges representing different regions and traditions of Guqin music will also bring their diverse backgrounds and extensive knowledge to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the performances. This international representation of performers and judges highlights the global significance and appeal of Guqin music as it continues to transcend borders and connect cultures.
