"Merging health, wellness and beauty was always something I was interested in. Early in my career, when I was VP of merchandising and product development for Felissimo retail store in NYC, I was able to instill sustainability initiatives and offer eco-friendly products. Afterwards, I went on to gain senior corporate executive positions for a variety of well-known corporations in the beauty industry (Crabtree & Evelyn, Victoria’s Secret Beauty). With decades of experience, I eventually started my own consultancy company where I helped other brands in the beauty and wellness arena with business/marketing strategies, product development, manufacturing, and distribution. I also worked to develop skincare, personal care, and healthy lifestyle products.
It was while consulting for a contract manufacturer of beauty, health, and pharmaceutical products that I learned a lot about skincare ingredients, and how skincare products were made and marketed by both small and large companies. I saw the use of questionable ingredients – some potentially harmful and toxic – in some of the formulas. At that time there weren’t a lot of choices for products that were chemical/toxin-free (what we call “clean beauty” today) that also worked well to improve the skin.
Along the way, unfortunately both my husband and I suffered from serious illnesses. My husband battled cancer for 13 years and it caused him many difficult skin issues. I’ve suffered from an autoimmune disease that’s left me with chronic dry and dull looking skin and was surprised to also receive a cancer diagnosis of my own. I became keenly aware that in our world, we are exposed to more toxins and chemicals than ever before. There is evidence showing that serious health issues – including cancer and certain skin disorders - are sometimes related to our exposure to toxic chemicals.
I realized how important it is to create awareness about how health and beauty merge – why we must protect and feed the skin with nourishing, safe ingredients for it to truly thrive. I saw the need for very effective, natural solutions in the skincare industry.
Creating healthy, safe products that help skin regain its health and radiance that can be used by even the most sensitive skin types has been extremely rewarding and aligns perfectly with where I believe my purpose is today."
