It's never been who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we are glad to newly know Imer and Ferit Cami and they just showed us they are not a one-trick pony.  Their second hit of the year is a hot, hopping, brand-new spot on the Upper East Side: Brooklyn Dumpling Shop.  It opened in June 2023.  It is right around the corner from the first place they own on the Upper East Side: Salvo's Pizza which earned a review earlier this year.
We began with a potsticker of cabbage, carrots and mushrooms which was presented seared and it promptly cannonballed into the sweet and sour sauce.
Note that if you did not live in the age of the automat and we did not, now you can experience that at Brooklyn Dumpling Shop today on the Upper East Side:
The color is an indication of temperature.
150F is Red.
35-40F is Blue.
Next we opted for the Chicken Teriyaki potsticker which were highlighted with fresh chives and five arrive in style.  Normally this is served drizzed, however, the picky one in residence here likes to drizzle for herself (this should surprise no one given our salad dressing application history.)
Looking at our pictures you may wonder more about the dumplings as really it is what is inside that differs.  It should speak volumes to you that we have never featured a dumpling place ever in 28,000 posts we believe, and we are featuring this one.
Yes they are made from scratch.
These are not just any dumplings!
But since when are we interested in just anything.
We search for the extraordinary to tell you about!
By nature, dumplings are a casual item to eat but these are different because of the innovative fillings and the fun style employed.
We also tried the Bacon Cheeseburger, Reuben (this was our favorite) and Chicken Parm (this might have been our favorite if it was served with marinara - we suggest this addition.)
The teriyaki lo mein noodles are not to be ignored, and note in general across this menu you are going to choose a flavor, a protein and a base.
Note they have a liquor license and it makes the dumplings even better!
We love rose from France.
The entrees we chose were the Crispy Shrimp Chop Chop Boal with white rice and Kung Pao (sweet and spicy) on the side above and the Crispy Chicken with lo mein noodles  and a sweet and sour sauce.  Brooklyn Dumpling Shop is a nice vacation away from your de rigeur dining and strikes the right casual note for this time of year!
We would like to see some fresh salad options in the future.
For now, we chose the edamame which is presented in a lovely steamed fashion with artisan sea salt.
We were impressed on our first visit and look forward to them keeping up the great work!

Also it is nice to know they label.
Not everyone does.
Who wants to get home and wonder which is theirs and have to cut open and guess?!?
