Obviously, go for a Green Drink even if you aren't Irish like Peachy, and she thought the star of the show here is the Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla:
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Onur Safuk, owner of Green Blend! You know he recently earned accolades for his first review of The Blue Mezze.
You want to know him too and Green Blend, particularly if you overindulged at Thanksgiving and want to have some quality, healthy food!
Drumroll, please.
It is high time for you to befriend the DETOX SALAD!
Of course, in all salad cases per request of Ms. Superpicky, the dressing was put on the side. In this edition, the dressing is Lime Vinaigrette, fresh and inviting.
On a lovely bed of baby spinach, the party gets started here with red cabbage, bell peppers, carrots, avocado, sesame seeds, cucumbers and walnuts. This packs a punch of both variety and nutrition that you will enjoy. Everything is fresh and sliced well.
Next in the batting order is the Kale Salad.
Baby Kale, Bacon Bits (you know, to make life exciting!), Diced Chicken, Shredded Parmigiano, and Croutons arrive in perfect proportion and we like the texture variances here too.
Finally, the Chicken Caesar Salad, below, is composed of Romaine Hearts, Diced Chicken, Crotons and Parmesean. In both salad cases here we actually adored the Creamy Caesar and the Caesar dressings, respectively. Someone here is typically not a fan of salad dressing and certainly wants to always apply it herself.
Note there are TEN SALAD choices here, and if none of them appeal to you, remember this is New York where you can have anything you want! You can create your own salad at Green Blend by following the five steps on the menu.
There are seven pasta choices, and of course everyone loves pasta. We tried the Basil Pesto Parmigiana Pasta which was fragrant, inviting and light.
However, the real star of the show and of this entire review was the absolutely outstanding Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla::
The quality and flavor alone of the Grilled Chicken was superlative and combined with corn, black beans, Pico de Gallo and mountains of mozzarella (avid readers know Peachy has a close relationship with Mozzarella: See Burrata Peachy), this is a standard-setting edition of a Quesadilla. We absolutely cannot wait to devour it again and the sour cream and chipotle mayo sauce which sing backup here are the perfect companions. The symphony of complimentary flavors together is simply the best.
And of course, you need a green juice.
We love the presentation including a straw that works wonders, and the cucumber, kale, fresh ginger, spinach, green apple, celery and lemon mixture makes its mark on your palate with tremendous nutritional punch.
This is one of a few places we review that is open for breakfast, but you should know you can have breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast: you can have what you want when you want it at Green Blend and their hours are extensive.
If you feel yourself turning into a turkey by now and want to do something bright and healthy, go for The Leo Omelette, above. Two scrambled eggs waltz with smoked salmon and caramelized onions, and we love that you can have garden salad with it.
Obviously Peachy Deegan is Irish and loves potatoes, so with the Western Omelette she ordered the fingerling potatoes. Giddy up Cowboy and order this omelette favorite: two scrambled eggs, ham, onion, bell peppers and tomatoes and we would highly encourage you to add cheese: we chose Monterey. The seed loaf added fresh and innovative texture and flavor to round them out.
You may remember we were impressed with the burgers at the Blue Mezze so they set our expectations high for the burgers at Green Blend. We count eleven choices! For the turkey indulgers, and obviously the turkey overindulgers, befriend the Fresh Salmon Burger, above!
The fresh salmon is invitingly seared and we like that you can have a salad on the side as a choice instead of fries (obviously we like fries too, read on for that.)
Arugula, Caramelized Onion and avocado come to this seafood feast inbetween two buns of Brioche, rounded out with fig balsamic vinaigrette. No ordinary burger at all!
Obviously, the resident cheeseburger monster here wants cheeseburgers.
Above, we preferred the Big Bang Burger: Beef patty, lettuce Monterey Jack Cheese, Bell Peppers, Avocado and wonderful Chipotle Mayo! Sweet potato fries are a great companion. The burgers were each respectively done a perfect medium rare and all had Brioche Buns, so fresh!
Finally, the regular cheeseburger arrives in style with beef, cheddar and traditional french fries and of course Beefsteak Tomato, Lettuce, Grilled Onions and Mayo.
You know you are done with turkey. Go for the Green!
The Green Blend impressed us on our first visit and we look forward to them keeping up the good work!
