#InauguralReview #OdaHouse #Georgian by #MaiaAcquaviva #DavidTskhvariashviki and #LashaMaisurtze #406East73rdStreet #Manhattan

Do not miss the cheese bread, reminiscent of the Black Sea!
Owner David Tskhvariashviki
Peachy's favorite: the Garlic Hen dish:
Open since May 2019, Oda House is a breath of fresh air: Georgian cuisine on the Upper East side!  Owned by Maia Acquaviva, David Tskhvariashviki and Lasha Maisurtze, who are dedicated to ensuring authenticity, Oda House will greet you with a dinner you've never had before in a charming and ambiant setting.  Manager George Rock and Server Nazy Eliozishybli also make dining at Oda House a pleasure.
Everything we had we have never had before and after fourteen years of doing this, that is really saying something.  We began with the mushroom salad, authentic and rich: perfect for this current weather.  Dotted with pomegranate, it struck the right balance between sweet and tangy and its flavor lends itself to adventure.
We have no prior knowledge of Georgian wines, but we now understand historically, this is the birthplace of wine at all before Christ and obviously way before Peachy (!) and we'd recommend exactly what we tried:
We love beets and find them to be a highly underrepresented menu item overall everywhere.  Beets in plum sauce are uniquely decadent and are a winning team with the warm, fresh bread.  The color is exactly this stunning as you see here: we never edit pictures.
You win like Maia and team or we do not publish.
That may look like an ordinary green salad to you but let us draw your attention to the Walnut Sauce that it comes with.   Its name is Georgian Salad.  Normally, it is applied to the salad but avid readers know in the case of Ms. Pretty Picky, she always wants the dressing on the side and this IS a restaurant, after all, so they listened and it arrived happily on the side.  All components were fresh.
The names of everything were difficult for us so we will explain if you are not familiar with Georgian food either. This place is full of smart cookies and they have pictures of everything on the menu with full English descriptions so there is no chance you will not find exactly what we are talking about on the menu.
This above dish is super chicken dancing in rich tomato sauce highlighted further with peppers and onions, enriching the already fabulous flavor.  It's served with piping hot bread made on premises and you know we love bread and you will love it too.
Chakhokibili is the name of this above dish.
The Shkmeruli is what is featured directly below and at the top of this review: it was Peachy's favorite.  For anyone that has a cold now especially, this garlic organic grass-fed cornish hen is the answer to your good health.  Even if you are in tip top shape, you should still order this because it is simply delicious and exactly what you want to warm you up.  The bread is heavier than a baguette and has a richer, denser consistency.
The Shkmeruli is a total must.
Here's the Beef and Pork Lula Kebab!
Peppers, tomatoes, carrots, zucchini and eggplant all team up with beef and pork to make this kebab a party on a plate.  The vivid array of colors and flavors really pop and make a dish that might be ordinary at lesser places really extraordinary at Oda House.  By the way, Oda House means wooden house.
Note this is at the top of the Dinner Menu: Oda House Special: Salmon and Mushrooms!  It is really something exotic as the mushroom sour cream sauce decadence is stuffed inside, leaving this salmon totally as wowed as your palate will be.  A single tiny strip of salmon at super boring restaurant wannabes cannot compete with this kind of majesty.
Finally, they insisted we try the cheese bread!
The egg is like a sun in the Black Sea and it's made by the Sailor's mother, so the story goes.  The idea is that the egg is mixed in so we let them do that for us, as they are the experts.  Why anyone on earth would prefer to eat potato chips from a bag during halftime instead of ordering this to dip and eat is totally beyond us.
Now your bread is ready to cannonball in:
Oda House impressed us and we hope they keep up the excellent work after our first time!
