Walker's Tribeca Restaurant Est. 1986 Their Second Hit on Whom You Know (With a Liquor License Dating back to 1896)

Say yes please to the Shrimp Scampi!

It's never been who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Walker's, downtown in Tribeca, owned by Scott Perez, Martin Sheridan and Jerry Walker.  They were first featured in 2016 and this is our second visit; there's a reason why a business thrives throughout the ages in Manhattan and we'll show you some of the reasons why.
This may be a bar, but even the water is beautiful.
Walker's is detail-oriented and they listen to Ms. Uberpicky who likes no ice and lemon wedges.
We are big fans of green vegetables, and the Grilled Asparagus side is not to be ignored.  Romano cheese and almonds grace its presence and announce to you this this is no ordinary spot.  In contrast, Chili is a more casual edible but this one's depth of flavor is stellar.  A classic, it's embellished with sour cream, cheddar cheese and onions.  It hits the spot!
We are very into salads.  Every place should have a solid green salad selection like Walker's.  First, the Small Mixed Greens Salad with tomato, cucumber, carrots and greens was chopped well and they listened and put the dressing on the side. It's exactly what every place should have as a regular salad.  The Caesar, which we wanted dressed, is also a study in the classics with fresh romaine, romano cheese and croutons.  We chose to add chicken and it was perfect.
We were most impressed with the Shrimp Scampi.  Avid readers know Peachy loves shrimp to eat and besides, feels a kinship to them because she is about that height.  Six shrimp stand at delicious attention in perfectly al dente linguine, so beautifully butterflied and ready to ravish you in a lemon butter sauce.  The cheeseburger is exactly what we are looking for and a staple of a tavern.  We liked the pepperjack which you can't get just anywhere and it was medium rare as we ordered.  It's a top seller and when you taste it, you will see why.  We also like that you can order it with a salad instead of fries.
Steak au Poivre was ideally medium rare as ordered too, and is joined by the daily vegetable, mashed potato and black pepper gravy.   We were there on a cooler day, and if you are in Manhattan now you know it has been a rollercoaster of weather from summer to winter back and forth.  We especially like this on a grayer day which is in the forecast.  Finally, Sweet Chili BBQ Salmon is an inventive take on this fish, and it comes with rice and daily vegetable too.  In both of these cases, we found the green beans, which happen to be Peachy's favorite vegetable, perfect and crisp.  Maybe there should be a green bean side like the Grilled Asparagus.
Their website tells us their story is coming soon...and regardless, we'll be continuing their story in the future and they have got a gem in GM Jamie Torres too.  We were impressed on our second visit to this both classic and classy venue.
We look forward to telling you more about this historical, fantastic place!
