Go to The Hungry Hero where your Roast Beef smiles at you
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know George Kalogerakos, Founder and Owner of The Hungry Hero located at 1142 First Avenue near 63rd in Manhattan.  The Hungry Hero has been open since January 2022.  They say the third time's a charm, and he first impressed us with his other two inaugural reviews.  That is why he is fast-tracking it to Peachy's Picks now!
All sandwiches are not created equally.
Some are just superior, like all of the choices we selected at The Hungry Hero.
Of course, everything is made to order and everything is fresh.
And, pictures do not lie!  We never edit pictures and you better believe that this roast beef carnivorous haven of delicious decadence will cool you off on a hot day.
They made it exactly as Peachy wanted: oil and vinegar on the bread first with onions, tomatoes and lettuce on white bread.
Your bread choices are white, wheat and sesame and you cannot go wrong with any of them.  It's really personal preference and what you think might go best with what is inside.
We liked the Roast Beef the best and that is really no surprise because Peachy often likes what she picks out the best.  However, we picked certain selections from their creation menu which is clearly on the wall and everything is identified by a number, so we will refer to each respectively when we choose an existing sandwich idea by George.
Let us reemphasize only the idea and the menu are created before you order: your sandwich is made fresh just for you and in this heat we suggest multiple sandwiches because you might be summer hibernating too.  Manhattan is blazing hot right now.
There's an absolute knockout of a Chef's Salad at The Hungry Hero and it is currently the only salad choice.  The spirals of roast beef, fresh turkey, Virginia ham and swiss cheese happily surround some beautifully cut hard-boiled eggs and majestically rest upon iceberg lettuce, tomato, peppers and cucumbers.  They put the dressing on the side as Ms. Superpicky asked.  It was amazing and crisp and you absolutely need a salad to go with whatever sandwich your little heart desires.  We hope they come out with more salad choices.
You would think Peachy is purely Italian from all of the times she has worked with all the food promoted by the Italian Consulate.  We think even the Italians from Italy would be wowed with the #27 Caprese.  It absolutely hits the spot on a sweltering day and the fresh mozzarella is expertly joined by basil, two layers of tomato and balsamic.  YAY jump in!  Cool off!  Even if you think it is too hot to eat it is not too hot to eat this.
What makes a Peachy's Pick a Peachy's Pick?
One of many factors is inventive skills, which George has.
George does own four successful restaurants in Manhattan.
Here, meet #28 the Broccoli Rabe and Eggplant!
We have never had a sandwich of these contents before and we recommend you have it too.
The components go together like peas and carrots and Jenny and Forrest.
Yes please you want the #20 Pastrami and Swiss.  It is served warm and super melty and has tremendous flavor.  It's going to melt in your mouth.
Another aspect of The Hungry Hero that we quite like is the high female employee count.  Both Yuvi and Lucie were super friendly and professional.  We don't see enough restaurants employing enough women and another factor is professionalism: not all casual places like this have employees that are so well-mannered.
If your Pastrami doesn't smile at you like this, you must not know George yet.

#23 is the captivating Chicken Cutlet and Prosciutto set off splendidly by Broccoli Rabe, which we now can see is a great sandwich addition for both color and nutrition.  It's served warm and if you are in your office and you work with purely Bonhommes de Neige (snowmen if you don't love French yet) because the air conditioning is blasting, you will like this even more.  All sandwiches here are 12 inches which obviously is a foot.
#3 Spicy Cappicola and Mozzarella decided to play up to the camera and you can see they struck a pose on our dinner runway.  It's served cold and ravishes you further with basil and balsamic vinaigrette.
From every angle, it's a winner.
#26 Tuna is amped up further with egg, lettuce and tomato for a combination that hits the spot with cool, calm and collected style for the start of summer.
We can't wait to see what The Hungry Hero does next!
Peachy Picks The Hungry Hero!
The Hungry Hero is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
