Golden Era Prawns
Sonny, Peachy and the Millionaire Moilee
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Hemant, Michelin Star Superstar and Sonny. We have simple taste: we like the best and what do the best do?
They get better.
Play it, Hemant.
Veeray's is so hot we did a pre-visit post and you'd be hard-pressed to find if we have ever done that before in 15 years; read it to see all about the custom-built gorgeous decor including vintage mirrors from Italy and 100-year aged brass and more. The lighting for the tables is among the best we have ever seen and your dinner looks beyond amazing. As always, we're going to tell you what you might want to dine upon and their soft opening is going on right now: dinner only, Monday to Saturday 5 to 10pm.
Of all the gin joints in the world, you want to walk into 213 East 45th Street.
It's so cool it doesn't need a sign, you see.
Peachy Deegan walked into this gin joint and met with the underboss, Sonny Solomon, previously lauded here.
The Don wasn't there, but you know he and Peachy go way back to Tulsi.
Here they are at Saar:
Inside:
Meet the Rockefeller Crab Nest: succulent jumbo lump crab reclines upon tempered spices and curry leaves. Wonderfully crabby and welcoming! Peachy's personal favorite however is the Gatsby Kebab, below. The moist tantalizing flavor won us over and we suggest not to share! This is the best chicken anything we have had in recent memory and actually we dreamed about it after we ate it. Tandoor grilled tamarind and basil chicken kebabs will wow you like no other.
Next in the lineup was the splendidly nutritious Jubilee Vegetables! Tandoor grilled broccoli, pineapple, mushroom, peppers and paneer await you after their initiation on the grill. If you think you don't like vegetables, clearly you haven't met these. Broccoli was Peachy's favorite here.
Sidekicks were not to be ignored and from the Lahsuni Palak, garlic-infused spinach above to the Dal Makhani, slow-cooked black lentils below, they add a punch of flavor and smoothness to your dinner and round it out before you whack it in its entirety. Because really, that's what you're going to want to do.
Onion and Green Chili Kulcha awaits your appetite under Jazzy Breads and we actually did not order Garlic Naan here because it is Olive Garlic Naan. If you like black olives it is a treat for you!
The Kulcha teamed up with all the dishes so well and is a star in its own right.
To those that award Michelin stars: get your etoiles ready, kiddo.
That's French for stars.
Prime Picks has an all-star selections of entrees and above meet the Golden Era Prawns and below the Millionaire Moilee.
They look exactly this excellent and as always, pictures are unedited.
For anyone that thinks your food doesn't look as great as Hemant's and Sonny's, maybe you should invest in better lighting!
Killer black tiger prawns do the charleston with a hotsy totsy eggplant chutney while the Sea Bass Filet waltzes in understated coconut curry, letting the poisson steal the show. These are among the best Indian dishes you'll have anywhere.
Under Retro Style, Beet Carrot Kofta will surely have wide appeal to both people and rabbits and although they look like meatballs, we suspect they are far more healthy! We loved the beet and carrot dumplings. Also appealing to your health is the Sweet n Sour Eggplant: onion-stuffed baby eggplant looks forward to ravishing your appetite and does not weigh you down: this is all obviously superior Indian food.
The final hit of the night is called "A Killer Cake" on the menu but may we suggest "Death by Chocolate." Agatha Christie, it would bring you back from the dead! It comes with a warning and is sourced from Sonny's pals at Petitchou. Layers of chocolate, chocolate mousse and chocolate cake are a triple threat of delicious decadence.
Here's looking at you, Hemant and Sonny!
Veeray's is Highly Recommended and we can't wait to see what they do next.
