The third time's a charm for Gracie's Diner!
They were first featured way back in 2014, and we returned a year ago to their new location, stated in our headline today.
Summertime, and the living is delicious if you order their fruit salad. As you know, we are huge advocates of salad, and really we do not see enough fruit salads anywhere. Melon, blueberries, strawberries, banana, pineapple and grapes all in the height of the summer fruit season await you in perfection. Note we never edit pictures: you excel like Steve and team, or we do not publish.
So, Sensational Salads are lighting up the press here in our newest column, where we only showcase those that have achieved Peachy's Picks status. We are excited by the whole Specialty Salads section of the menu where we applaud eleven choices. This is the Caesar Salad, which we wanted with chicken and dressed. The chicken arrived ideally warm and the romaine lettuce was fresh and superbly crunchy. It's tossed with romano cheese, croutons and of course the caesar dressing. We also like the green marble everywhere and love the decor of this location right down to the clock.
The Greek Yogurt Milkshakes are incredible and absolutely refreshing especially when you add a mix of strawberries and blueberries which we asked. The menu says strawberry or blueberry but we said how about and and they said OK! Try it, you will love it. We do not think we have had a yogurt milkshake ever this fantastic. As we said above, they are made with Fage from Sparta, Greece.
The second Specialty Salad we tried is the Salad Nicoise, and they put the dressing on the side. Evocative of Nice, France, this one boasts fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, string beans, hard boiled egg, olives and tuna. All elements were cut well and this is exactly what we were looking for, especially since we have been to Nice and have had it there. They listened and put the dressing on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky.
Overall the menu is extensive at Gracie's Diner and we doubt you will not find something you love. Under Triple Deckers, we opted for 4. Egg Salad and Crisp Bacon and it was terrific on toasted rye with waffle fries. The lettuce and tomato added a nutritious flair and the fries made it even more fun. Of course we love egg salad and bacon makes it that much better. Peachy does go crazy for bacon, egg and cheese in the morning so continuing the theme to dinner makes a lot of sense.
The Spinach Pie is a superstar here and comes in generous size too. We adore that it is served with a Greek Salad on the side and visually it's captivating and if you don't think vegetables are delicious, you have not had this. The Spinach waltzes in a cheesy symphony and every bite hits the spot.
May we inform you that Gracie's Diner is open 24 hours a day should you wish to go at any hour! To that effect, we explored their breakfast sandwiches because sometimes they can be good for dinner, if you are at the right place! This is the right place.
First, we tried Irish bacon and eggs and we opted for it to be with cheddar on a roll.
Everyone knows genetically, Peachy is Irish. And they know she resided in Ireland in Cork. She mostly ate bacon and yogurt when she was there. This lives up to the hype! Genuine rashers will wow you. A rasher means Irish bacon to the uninitiated.

Finally, they saved the best for last.
The final firework for the night was the spectacular Shrimp Scampi.
Six succulent shrimp stand at attention and salute your palate which will be entirely pleased to meet them. They perch pleasantly upon garlic sauce rice, the ideal companion.
