The oldest place in town that we review and has earned Peachy's Picks status has got some of the absolute freshest salads waiting to meet you. And sometimes it is too hot even for Guinness so Peachy loved the pink grapefruit juice at Old Town. Sensational Salads, our newest Culinary Column, has got a new star! You must be a Peachy's Pick for feature in this column. We want to see more salads on everyone's menu!
Pack it up, pack it in, let us begin, if you aren't indulging in the Freshly Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad at Old Town, your diet's a sin! Everyone knows that House of Pain filmed their Jump Around here. And we film what you should eat. We like how they add tomatoes to their Caesar! The garlic element going on here is outstanding and we love garlic. Parmesan cheese, croutons, anchovies and of course warm freshly grilled chicken when you specify it perches upon Romaine to start the salad party.
The Chef's Salad above, is an extraordinary amalgamation of smoked turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, crumbled bacon, red onion, and hard boiled egg and of course mixed greens. Note in all cases of course you may have your salad dressed, but everyone knows that Ms. Superpicky likes to apply the dressing herself if at all. And we LOVED the Southwestern Ranch and Creamy Garlic and Cracked Peppercorn here...word on the street is that the second one is affectionately nicknamed with humor: crack. Yes, this is the only crack we ever have consumed or will be consuming. And for everyone that thinks clubbing is hot in New York, it absolutely is when it comes to the Club Salad at Old Town, below. Grilled Chicken Breast, Crisp Bacon, Swiss Cheese and tomatoes party all night long until your fork comes to bring the festivities to your mouth!

The Steak Salad was the best one!
But really, they all are great and it depends on what you are in the mood for.
Superb marinated flank steak thinly sliced and grilled medium rare is a total triumph with grated cheese, red onion and tomatoes served atop a bed of mixed greens with a side of pita bread. Pictures and actions speak louder than words and this was the first one to live happily ever after in Peachy's stomach.
Cobb Salad is a wonder of alfalfa, avocado, olives and egg that are the good angels of nutrition and of course the most delicious part and the naughtiest nutritionally is the smashing bacon! Real bacon! Mixed greens are the base, and finally, if you are eating the burger or the chili or anything else and want a salad sidekick, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the House Salad below. Shredded carrots, red cabbage and mixed greens are a beacon of refreshment.
