Their Second Feature on #WhomYouKnow #Biricchino @BiricchinoNYC Since 1987 by #FouadAlsharif #MarcBuzzio and #PaulValetutti #260W29thSt #Manhattan

The tremendous handcrafted-on-premises Fettuccine Cacio e Pepe, Peachy's favorite this visit

It's never been who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Biricchino, a fabulous Italian hotspot right near Madison Square Garden that we first discovered and featured in the fall of 2023.  There's a big difference between being featured once and being featured twice, and of course the truly great that we have been to many, many times are on our usual annual list of Peachy's Picks.  Salads and summer go hand in hand, and there are five salads to choose from here.  First, meet the classic Caesar Salad: Romaine, Olives and Croutons bask in genuine anchovy dressing for a fresh start.  Below, please meet Insalata di Pera: Arugula with Pear, Candied Pecans, and we chose to add shrimp which really stepped up the dish.  Normally, this second salad has Blue Cheese but you know who says no thank you to Blue Cheese everywhere!
The pasta section was the strongest this visit, and in particular, the Fettuccine Cacio e Pepe is what you need in your life right now.  It's perfectly al dente and the parmigiano and black pepper beautifully envelop the pasta made right at Biricchino!  Every decadent bite will receive accolades from your tastebuds, and we surmise it could be even better by adding a protein (chicken, salmon, tuna, shrimp).
An inventive selection that should appeal to the vegetarians is without a doubt the Trofie Genovese: Spiral Pasta with French Beans (Peachy's favorite vegetable!!!  Haricots Verts!) in a standout Creamy Basil Pesto Sauce.  It's hearty yet not too overwhelming to enjoy on a hot summer day.
Pollo Milanese likes to play hide and seek with Peachy and it's great fun to play with your food; note everyone we meet at Biricchino also has sparkling personalities starting with Fouad who is a big plus (see the add in his name- not subtract!) and we don't always say that as you know if you read inbetween the lines.  It is invariably better to eat somewhere that has both great food and great personality.  When Pollo met Peachy's fork it came out from hiding under the fresh arugula and cherry tomatoes and said, "Enchante!" The breaded chicken breast was perfection and sang a song of summer.  Beef Tagliata is sourced from Baldor and is wonderfully marinated in balsamic and grilled over asparagus, and is enjoyable any day of the year.
Health is wealth and it is certainly possible to rock a bikini body and eat Italian when you go to the right spot and that's Biricchino.  We applaud their six sides on the menu and as you know Peachy absolutely cannot resist the Fagiolini e Cipolle Rosse: French Beans and Red Onion!  The red onion is a nice touch that we don't see at other places and it adds both flavor and color.  Braised Cannelini of beans and tomatoes is in perfect proportion and will also hit the spot.
Everyone knows Peachy considers gluten a close personal friend and is not a vegan herself, but she is always thinking of readers that might be and she is adamant about having a balanced meal always.
Of course each of these two is gluten free and vegan, as indicated on the menu.
Staff member Camila Sanchez was also a delight to meet.

Biricchino continues to impress even in the dog days of summer!
Check them out.

Their website says:
For the past 33 years, Biricchino has been providing the local community, sports fans, pre-theater diners and loyal customers with a seat at our family’s table. We hail from the province of Biella in Piemonte, Italy, and have been in the food business in the United States for over 90 years. Our parent company was appropriately named Salumeria Biellese when it was established in 1925. Long after, Biricchino opened its doors in 1987 to highlight the products that we hand craft at Salumeria Biellese. Here, we share our passion for the cooking traditions of Northern Italy. We source only the finest ingredients from purveyors according to our family traditions. House made cured meats are artisanally crafted using 100% all natural, locally sourced Berkshire hogs, grass-fed beef, and Amish farm raised chickens. Our kitchen features seasonal vegetables come from the Garden State of New Jersey and daily fresh breads from Sullivan Street Bakery. It has been a pleasure serving all at Biricchino, and we thank you for your patronage.
