#InauguralReview #SevenSins by #GaryMcGonigle #Donegal #UpDonegal and #PeterOConnell #Gramercy #293ThirdAvenue between 22nd and 23rd #Manhattan

Founder and Owner Gary McGonigle welcomes you with Guinness and Ribs
Fantastic Chicken Quesadillas
The Guinness is tops!  They've got props!  We hope they rise to the top.  So far, so good.  It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we now know Letterkenny College graduate Gary McGonigle, Founder and Owner of Seven Sins, brand new to Manhattan as of April 7, 2024.  They boast seven cocktails named after the seven deadly sins and it's adorned in black and red, giving it an edgy, memorable feeling of distinction.  Of course we love Old Town and Gerard, of course so Irish that is where Jump Around was filmed, and that is where we were tipped off about this new Irish hotspot.  With Neary's gone and our fellow Boston College Eagle Billy Bishop now in Westchester preaching the gospel of Ever to Excel (we used to review all of Billy's Manhattan hits including Nations/Point Break), you should know that Seven Sins is the best new Irish place in Manhattan, and is also owned by Peter O'Connell of County Meath.
Counties matter in Ireland.
For the record, Peachy has been to more Counties in Ireland than States in America.
If Peachy is going out, she wants water with no ice and lemon wedges. They get it here.  (No slices, wedges!  You can squeeze wedges...)
Obviously, Guinness is GOOD FOR YOU.
At Seven Sins the lines are cleaned biweekly and there are eleven on tap, you know, Kevin Dineen's number. Another awesome Irishman.
Regis Philbin this one's for you: Seven Sins is an official Notre Dame bar we understand!
Regis is OUR MOST FAVORITE NOTRE DAME person ever and he is for sure reading upstairs and probably having a Guinness with Gary's grandfather, of McGonigle's fame in Fanad Peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland.  And of course the Deegan girls too-see them to the right in the 1940's way before Seven Sins existed.
The Holy War bet (we dreamed about it for years prior) negotiation:
We began with the Chicken Quesadilla, which was one of Peachy's personal favorites of the night.  There are no rookie moves with this dish.  Grilled chicken, onions, mushrooms and cheese are joined by the trifecta of usual suspects: guac, sour cream and salsa.
The cocktails may be naughty, but the cuisine is nice.
The Sins Cobb is the salad selection we made and they listened and put the dressing on the side per our request.  Lettuce, tomato, onion, grilled chicken, egg and bacon come to the party and usually it also has blue cheese, but everyone knows Peachy says no thanks to that item everywhere.  Red wine vinaigrette sings backup.
Seven Sins has high standards for the food but the clear star of the show is the drinks.
The bar is the star!
Does everyone remember the Western Star in County Cork!?!
There is no way a pub can be successful without a great burger and check it out: they got it medium rare exactly as we ordered the first time.   Please meet their signature burger: 8oz of all beef patty joined by butter pickles, american cheese and though the menu says slaw, they did a side salad instead at our request.  We are incredibly pro-salad and would like to see more salad options here. Note no pictures are ever edited: you do well like Gary or we do not publish.  Also it's nice to know they have three mocktails here should you not be a drinker of alcohol.  They welcome everyone.
Gary suggested we try the Sweet and Spicy Glazed Ribs with red chili peppers, and we quite concur, the ribs themselves were the best ribs we have had this year.  Grilled corn sings a song of summer and it comes with coleslaw.  Be careful if you are allergic to nuts: there are nuts on top.
We have not seen Grilled Avocado before so we had to try it and we reveled in the simplicity done so well.   Pico de gallo and corn add nutrition and color to it, dressing it to the 9's.
It's unique, fresh and wonderful.
The Grilled Chicken entree is something like Chicken Milanese except better because it's not breaded.  Garlic, Thyme and Rosemary marinate this clearcut winner and the salad is composed of arugula, cherry tomatoes, and lemon vinaigrette.
Eight quality ounces of Salmon await you as an entree and again it was grilled as we ordered: medium.  Grilled Sweet Peppers provide a smashing contrast along with that laudable grilled avocado.  The Salmon itself had outstanding flavor.
The Sinful BLT had a solid performance and was just what we were looking for.  Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato rejoice in Lemon Aioli on delicious grilled sourdough that hits the spot.
Aside from the Chicken Quesadilla and the Salmon, Peachy really loved the Pesto Grilled Cheese quite a lot.  Mozzarella and of course superb pesto party inbetween soughdough with tomato sauce hitting the spot in an ultimate taste victory.  Gary also recommends the Canadian-inspired Poutine, beef gravy and mozzarella on fries:
Seven Sins really impressed us on our first visit and we can't wait to see what they do next.
