It's the holiday season and the elegance famously shines bright at Ammos Estiatorio at 52 Vanderbilt Avenue, just steps away from Grand Central Terminal!  December 31st promises to be a superior extravaganza with celebratory flavors that await you to ring in the 2025 New Year with styleWhom You Know recently was honored to have a sneak preview into the culinary feats that can be yours!  The menu in its entirety is found at the conclusion; here is what we tried.
Octapodi
Grilled Mediterranean octopus, fennel, capers, onions, roasted red peppers, honey balsamic emulsion

A stunning arrangement of fabulous nutrition including fennel, capers, onions, tomato and red bell pepper sing back up to the perfectly grilled octopus, a creature everyone can relate to in the holiday season where you ought to have eight arms to accomplish everything!  The octopus itself is attractively sliced on the diagonal and every bite is a pleasure as it is tender to the palate.

Tonos (Tuna)
Crusted in fine herbs pan-seared tuna, tricolor baby carrots, brussel sprouts, avocado mousse, soy cider vinaigrette

Ammos Estiatorio is renowned for its commitment to seafood excellence and the Tonos, which means Tuna, evidences this with delicious flair.  Here, it's an ideal medium rare which we suggest, however, Ammos is happy to make it to your personal preference.  We were especially captivated by the brussel sprouts which are an amazing visual contrast of pink and green that surely Lilly Pulitzer would approve of!

Yogurt Flan
Chilled Greek yogurt flan served with honey & sour cherries

A sweet conclusion is an optical triumph with the Yogurt Flan with sour cherries and berries too!  With a touch of honey, the authentic Greek dessert will wow your senses and start your year off right!

Traditional slowly cooked lamb shank with pearl onions, in a homemade tomato sauce over Greek orzo casserole

Brizola

16oz Bone-in Ribeye Steak, fine herbed compound butter, served with garlic mashed potatoes, creamy garlic peppercorn sauce
