A Peachy's Pick Since 2012 El Pote Espanol #ElPote #ElPoteEspanol @elPoteEspanol Since 1977 by New Owners Nicolas Ahuatl and Juan Costa Spring 2025 #WhomYouKnow #PeachysPicks @ManhattanPeachy #PeachyDeegan

We adore the mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat!
Yes, flawless.
Have we ever said that about an ownership change?
Nicholas was originally a waiter here, and he has been the owner now for some years.
When Peachy used to call, Enrique, the previous owner, was the height of hospitality each and every time he answered and everyone that is the new kid on the restaurant block today could learn a lot from this.   Enrique's talents did not end there and we miss him a lot and are confident he is reading upstairs.
We began with their smashing signature Rioja which we usually have and always love.
The green salad adorned with mangoes and avocadoes is laudable, and we are huge advocates of green salads.  We would like to see more of them on this menu.
The menu is otherwise quite deep, and of everything one of our most favorite dishes is the Champiniones Rellenos: Stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat, shrimp and garlic.
This delicacy is a total must for your El Pote experience.
Note we do not edit pictures, it really looks this great.
Equally inviting is the octopus!
Pulpo Estilo Feria is a beacon of Galicia and it is a revelation in paprika, cut up for your already.
It's correctly grilled and one of many reasons why El Pote is such a tremendous winner.
If you are more of the carnivorous type for appetizers, opt for the Artichoke with Serrano Ham, similar to Peachy's close friend bacon (sorry Miss Piggy.)  It's served hot and though the title says spring you can be assured we are still dressing like it's winter in New York and eating like it's winter too.  To that end, you would be entirely remiss to not have the outstanding Garlic Soup which is exactly what any of you that might be sick should get in several orders of takeout!  It is a cure in Dr. Peachy's opinion (Peachy is not a doctor-disclaimer).
A home run is the Sopa de Pescado: Seafood Soup which boasts elegance and style filled with amazing bites of shrimp, lobster and scallops.  It is going to be a true highlight of your chilly day and could be your dinner if you are eating on the lighter side.  However, why would you do that when El Pote has four pages of menu enticements?!
Even more exclusive than the American Express Black Card is the Paella Negra, which we totally covet on a regular basis.  It's black rice with seafood: calamari, shrimp, clams and mussels all sing a song of the sea to your plate.  Note if you are going somewhere after and order this, bring your toothbrush (The squid ink is a powerful hue, evidencing its genuine nature).  Peachy is proud of her black teeth after however she is not interested in staining them and for the uninitiated, it is important that you try this so you understand just how tremendous the flavor is.
Scallops Galician style are a luxury entree that is quiet luxury and does not scream.  It is a smooth operator embellished with mushrooms, onions and garlic and served piping hot.  Formally, it goes by Vieiras ala Gallega and the Bechamel is pure enticement.
It's rich and exotic.
Finally, for the poulet-inclined, the garlic chicken is a consistent winner.  Pollo al Ajillo hits the spot any time of the year, so if you go on a warmer day this will be equally cherished.
Nicholas and Peachy:
El Pote continues to Earn Our Highest Recommendation.
